So much effort just to get an unbaptised baby. The devil could have asked teenagers with unwanted pregnancies instead. He could have gotten tons of babies and likely wouldn't even had to plant any trees or other landscaping work.

Let's be honest: the villagers got what they deserved. She sarificed herself, her soul and well-being in order to save the villagers from certian death at the hands of a maniacal ruler. He woul d have slaughter the people without remorse, but instead of helping the woman oercome the curse and be free they punish her. Unfortunatly most parts of the society still run the same way: they punish someone for helping them in their time of need, but when confronted with the price and being in dire need itself, they turn their backs and chastise the person. Honestly, that woman should have made another deal: take the life of every sinner in the village and fort. Almost everyone would have died but because they were at fault. To make a short: don't help stupid people. They will repay you with hate and punishment

The devil publicly directed the orice solely at her, knowing that the villagers could live with sacrificing the woman by pressuring her into the deal but forsaking her in her times of need due to her sacrifice. The villagers are as much a debtor in this contract as is the woman.

Ironically, everyone else was evil and Christine was the only good soul in that entire place.

How does she have evil in her when she was trying to protect her village from being massacred. Like the guy literally said if they didn’t have the trees up he would start to kill the villagers. And let’s not even start on how they won’t be able to bring in a successful harvest as a result of that task so people would die even if they were able to get half the trees up. She was a hero that put her soul on the line for everyone but he always sensed evil in her… be real for real here sir!

I think the devil targeting the Hans's soul all along but stopped when his target entered church territory so the the devil is like ' how am I going to get his soul in this land🤔.....💡I know, always find the weakest spot😈' so it is Hans's selfishness for pushing the villager to desperate situations thus triggered the event, the baby is an extra bonus cause he is conceived out of wedlock plus being Hans's illegitimate son as well but in the end the devil manage to get his target 'Hans's soul'...about the baby 🤔 the devil might not be able to claim him in time unless the child following his father footsteps

But on earth he can make his name last good or bad. For those interested, "Die Schwarze Spinne" is made after a book. A book that is 10 times more disturbing than the movie.

can we talk abt how both guys involved with the sister only cared abt the child because they thought it was male and theres, but when he turned out to not be the husbands, he was happy to sacrifice it and even offered him. and when the baby turned out to be a boy the knight decided he didn't want it to be sacrificed. and despite all the mid wife did for the town they turned their backs on her as soon as she needed help, even though she only needed help because she was trying to save the town and she had the chance to leave all of that behind but decided not to. AND the priest was somehow a holy man despite being one of the most evil in the entire town. this has to be the most accurate depictions' of the olden days it would have been a lot more accurate if all the women were 18 and younger, and the mid wife was constantly r worded by multiple men. over all the town brought all of this onto themsleves and deserved what they got i just wish the midwife and her sister/children got real justice. also why did the sister do that to the midwife, she could have protected them against bad ppl.

This reminds me of Stephen King's Storm of the Century. In the book, an ancient magician starts killing people in a small town, until they give him a child to be his successor.

What a story.

I had to read the book. The book goes on how the spider escapes. This was like half of the book. I'm not sure though because my german wasn't that good.

In sense, don’t help people as they will just backstab you. Also, I have to wonder if the sister locked her sister, who became a spider to stop her killing spree. Cause the main character went on a killing spree to those that had wronged her. The only one who didn’t was the sister. Since when she was turned into a spider. She didn’t attack her and only her husband along with the others did she do it. She had many chances to kill her. I don’t think at the ending when she trapped her spider sister was a betrayal, but a way to stop her. Since her sister asked for her help; possibly meaning she wants her sister to stop her for future events. Sorry if this sounds confusing.

And they lived happily ever after . The end

Yes; the media makes Lucifer look less malignant and more powerful than he actually is. Of course he did wrong: He rebelled against god, and, tempted Eve to do the same. God "genocided" those who were fit for nothing else. The point was to bring THEM to THEIR proper end; not to bring ALL genocide-earners to their proper end. 😏🤪

In short, it is out of jealousy because angles and demons cant create life, it is a gift god gave only humans which is a big reason Lucifer rebelled against God because he felt himself superior to humans.

Well it does make sense. The Lord of that castle was a tyrant and wicked. He wanted more than what people could afford. Then he gave an ultimatum, which would have ended up destroying that village and everyone dead. So, the village had 4 choices. 1.) Do the work, but fail and die. 2.) Run away. 3.) Fight 4.) Make a deal with the devil. Well, one of them decided to make a deal with the devil, the dumbest move ever. She would be possessed to kidnap an unbaptized baby. She did no uphold her end of the deal and was turned into a spider. Then she killed everyone that was a threat to her or wronged her. Her sister killed her because of what she had done, so she does not get killed by the spider. Moral of the story: "Don't make deals with the devil, and sometimes you have to run away from threats. The threat being the Lord of that castle.
