Mathew Fraser earned the title of Fittest Man on Earth at the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games. The victory was three years in the making, after he took back-to-back second-place finishes in 2014 and 2015. In 2014, Fraser’s debut Games appearance, he earned the Rookie of the Year award for his efforts. Known for his hatred of second place, Fraser was unsatisfied with his consecutive silver finishes, and though he won the worldwide Open in 2015 and swept his region (EAST) with a dominate performance in 2016, it wasn’t until he stood atop the podium at the Games in 2016 that he showed signs of celebration. A former U.S. Olympic Weightlifting team hopeful, with a return from major back surgery in 2011, retired from his weightlifting career and has been a CrossFit athlete since 2012.

  • @joshuapeek9555

    @joshuapeek9555

    7 жыл бұрын

    This is such a generality. You dont know the regimen, nor the routine. There's off season (completely different training), pre comp (different), comp (different), post (different). And you keep your body fresh doing that.

  • @thepeddle

    @thepeddle

    7 жыл бұрын

    Dude I don't give a fawk about other times of the year....I watched a video where he explained a routine he does at least for a part of the year and it's intense as hell. So no it's not a "generality". I haven't taken any time off from training besides minor injuries in a couple of decades so don't tell me I'm making a bullshit statement. Take your asinine opinion somewhere else.

  • @joshuapeek9555

    @joshuapeek9555

    7 жыл бұрын

    "I watched a video" selling point for a company ..... "at least part of the year" literally what i just explained .... not taking time off means hes still in one of those phases. So my point is still valid No opinions here. Facts. Every elite CFer follows that to a certain degree. Fact. Do you honestly think he trains "intense" year around? No. He even says he wont snatch over 225 until the open or past. Why? Different season. Fact again

  • @CoNnOr06666

    @CoNnOr06666

    7 жыл бұрын

    Don't think anyone disagrees your point is valid. But what relevance does it have to the initial comment? They are saying they could not do what he does when he is working out like that. Doesn't matter what he does in off season. The comment was made about the regime outlined in the video, nothing to do with any other time of the year lol.

    I presume Matt was sponsored during 2016 when he says he'd finished school and just spent every day training. I mean, it's all well and good being able to do that but financially I know myself from the amount of food I need to eat and supplements that taking a year out to just train would cost and absolute bomb. Love his work ethic though. Great character.

    I think crossfit from a competitive point of view is great and really interesting to watch but I think traditional crossfit as a training ideology for your every day dude thats training to become stronger/more well rounded and or look more aesthetic I think they'd be better served with good weight training and high intensity running. Crossfit puts emphasis on doing something quick rather than doing something right (being more efficient often means using your tendions and joints as load bearings instead of focusing on muscle contractions) meaning that not only arent your muscles becoming larger and stronger at an optimal rate but your also taking unnecessary risk to your joints and tendons. That being said Im really inspired by Matt Fraser and I think the sport of crossfit is incredibly entertaining and these men deserve to be recognized as true athletes in the public eye.

    I agreee that crossfit as a methodology is BS. But i dont agree with what most people should do. Weight training and running? There's so much more variance. And high intense running is too much for the average person. Low intense mod dur. Is what EVERYONE needs. Not high int. What people dont see is that these guys are never going 100%. Their fitness is extremely high for that. So for average joes to do what they do, they would get a different dose response
