A day trip to Steepholm Island from Weston-super-Mare on board Bristol Queen in September 2009
Ойын-сауық
We join the Bristol Queen at Weston-super-Mare's Knightstone Harbour for a landing day trip to Steepholm Island in the Bristol Channel in September 2009. As we leave Weston we see pass the derelict Birnbeck Pier before heading out towards Steepholm. As we approach the island a very informative commentary is provided by the crew. We cricumnavigate Steepholm before negotiating the tricky tidal conditions to land at the pebble beach. We then climb the zig-zag path and explore the island before returning to Weston in early evening.

One of the places I would like to visit. Thanks for showing. Regards Paul.
I'd love to spend a day on Steep Holm. Maybe in 2021, eh ? 😀

I don’t think they do this trip anymore
Great video....what a place to visit . 👍
Wow! I really want to visit steep holm one day👌💛
I spent the day on flat holme in 2017. Great day out! I asked the captain about steep holme and he told me he wanted to offer tours there but the island owners wouldn't allow him for some reason?
I'd like to try this!

Major refit at Weston; anyone know how it is going?

It's some large rocks, but because of the strength of the tide and current it does look like something at first glance. Just shows how strong the tidal race is in the Bristol channel
Nice place to spoof to on Pokemon Go
Special place, very cool video. The sea looked so angry and choppy. Very muddy, I wonder if that is usual for the area, or if there had been a storm?

Along with the Severn Estuary, the Bristol Channel (where Steep Holme is located) has the second highest tidal range in the world. The powerful ebb and flow in and out of the estuary's funnel shape means that the water there is always heavy in particulates - hence the brown colour of the water.

it is usual for the area, we have very strong tides in the bristol channel, I did my powerboat intermediate from penarth to weston near to steep holm and it was very lumpy even in may.
What happened to the Bristol Queen ? Why in car park?

Because it carries live passengers it must conform to certain standards of health and safety so she needs a big very expensive overhaul 👍

It is now for sale as scrap.
This just appeared in my recommendations. Not watched any videos remotely like it. This must be purely off ip location data. Creepy.
This boat sits it wsm rail station carpark, it's in a terrible state.
