A Day Onboard A River Cruise - Avalon Waterways - Active and Discovery on the Seine May 2023
Come join me onboard! This is a day on an Avalon river cruise. We were sailing on the Tapestry II on the Active And Discovery on the Seine itinerary. This is our day in Rouen (Day 5). We just returned from this cruise a couple weeks ago and have already booked another for the Rhine next September. The Avalon crew works incredibly hard and we're top notch. Rouen was one of my favorite days. We were lucky to be there during "Belly Fest", a street fair of local merchants and performers. We had the guide in the video once and he drove me absolutely crazy. 😅 From that day in I would make sure we were not in his tour.

Binoculars...do you suggest bringing them for the room? And, laundry - how did you work that? Thanks!

You may want binoculars, but I would likely recommend only brining small ones. I have not brought any on my previous cruises, and never really felt the need for them. They do stock some binoculars on the ship so alternatively you could just ask to borrow them. With laundry, it's similar to how laundry works in a hotel. You leave it in a bag for housekeeping, and then all the items are returned the next day (or sometimes later that same day), wonderfully clean. Laundry is at an additional charge per piece with Avalon, but the prices are reasonable, and it's so nice having clean, pressed laundry.
My wife and I have a 2 week European River cruise (Amsterdam to Budapest) booked with Avalon in 2 months (Oct 2023). We originally had it booked for our 30th anniversary but then COVID hit and we all know how that went. So, rebooked for this October. Can't wait! Thank for the video!

My wife and I will be taking our first Avalon river cruise in October. For guided tours, how do the recievers work if one has hearing aids? My hearing aids are bluetooth enabled. Can the recievers pair up with bluetooth devices and enable one to listen to the guide through their hearing aids? Thanks or the great videos!

I'm so glad you liked the videos! The ones we had with Avalon were connected via a wire - they could not be bluetooth connected, so they would likely sit on top of the hearing aid. If that doesn't work well, your best bet would be to just stay close to the guide so you can hear them. I hope you have a wonderful cruise!

I appreciate your concern for privacy, but a video of the floors is not helpful and very hard to watch.
