A Day in the Life with 4 Greyhounds!
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Hi, I’m Steph! A DIYer, author, and podcast host. I live in Tallahassee, FL with my two adopted greyhounds. Both are retired racers adopted from Greyhounds as Pets in Jacksonville, FL.
I adopted Mac in 2018, and she was born 2014. I adopted Tosh in 2020, and she was born 2017.
Together they are Mac & Tosh (yes, that is a reference to my favorite computer, the Macintosh)!
I store all the 💩 in this. It works really well and it doesn't smell. I throw it out once a week with the trash.

At one time, my wife and I had ten greys in the house. Not a big deal since they are pretty much couch potatoes. The only time that was challenging was when people came to the house. ALL of the dogs wanted to be the first to kiss them to death! Awesome dogs.

I have 8 miniature greyhounds...They're very well behaved 🤗
They are all so fascinating to watch, with their different characters! You are so calm with them, and you can see all the greys love you. My black rescue greyhound Madge always wants to lick visitors to bits when they come to the front door, as her welcoming gambit! I would love to have another greyhound to keep Madge company, but I really do not have the room here, and no garden, although we live in a very rural spot, in West Devon, England, with no passing traffic. I take her out for walks about 4/5 times a day. Madge had the racing name Devils Magic, and she raced at Poole racetrack, in England, until she was rescued, and it is her 7th Birthday today - the 20th March, 2024! I have had her for 4 years now. Blessings and love to you and all your greyhounds, for Jilly & Madge. xxx

They're such gentle dogs. Even my dog phobic mom likes my greyhounds.

The four of them staring out the window, precious..
I love when dogs go crazy when you grab the leash.😊
I myself have 4 retired racers and I find them to be the best dogs ever!

Yes! What are their ages?
Our 3 greyhounds started ROOING while we were watching your video!! ❤️🐾❤️🐾
So glad I'm not the only person who makes her bed because her greyhound likes to sleep on it! He objects if it's rumpled in any way when he jumps up. Not a princess at all, nooooo. I live in north Queenland, Australia, in a warm tropical climate very much like yours, and I too entertain visiting greys when their people need to go away, but I've had three max, mainly because my house is small and I don't have the floor space for more. I've started a social group for local greys and their Staff, and we have coffee and walks once a month. My grey, Mouse, has his own blog, where he writes about travel, eating out, the shortcomings of his Staff, new toys or equipment, etc. His tone can be quite snarky and he complains that I don't type fast enough when he's dictating!

Love this! Where can I find his blog?
I really miss my velcro greyhound. I was his person and I struggled through the grief when we lost him a couple years ago.
I am a first timer and enjoyed your video. It was calm, heartwarming, and had 4 dogs! I like your style. You talk just the right amount.
A long time ago I had a faun colored boy. He was a true joy, and loved kittens to mother and love on. Upset many a mama cat.
I thought it was hard to work in the day with two needy greyhounds - you definitely had your work cut out here! Never enough pairs of hands 😁. I wanted to thank you for showing what sleep startle is like, because when we first got our girl greyhound, we were kind of confused at how she could seem totally awake and yet still be barking/growling/snapping. It just takes them some time to wake fully and for 'omg humans mean fuss and treats!' to come online, I guess. There's still times our girl will wake, get up on the bed, and yet still borksnap if we touch her or move too much for her liking. We've just gotten used to living with it now, but for people who aren't used to it it can seem really scary I guess, especially as greyhounds are quite big dogs.
4 Greys Rooing. Life is good.
we have six Dobermans and I have always heard they have a lot of greyhound in them and after watching this video, I am convinced. Two of ours could practically be greyhounds. If you see Dobie with no ears cropped or tail docked, you can see this even more. I see it in the personality/mannerisms, too.

I think so too. I have a doberman pit mix and she is everything people describe greyhounds to be. She looks very much like a grey hound and doberman. She does like to guard and bark a little when she sees other dogs walking past our house but no excessively. She's very calm and sweet natured but loves to go on runs through the yard and back to being calm after she's done.
A 4 Grey doorbell. That sure works.
6:08 dog TV! That's so funny. Every dog loves to watch the world go by at the window. The elevated food and water bowls using a 5 gal bucket is a clever design. May have to use that.
You are amazing! Your calm, easy going but structured style makes for such wonderful care of these Greyt dogs. Brava to you!

@@wrx_kim9352 that is what they say about Dobermans and they are supposed to be made from Greyhounds, I notice it with my Dobies. We have six so they alternate nights in our bed and they know when it is their night and do not like to be thrown off.

This video story is so beautifully relaxing Steph! I watch it, a lot!🐾🌺🐾🌺🐾🌺🐾🌺
This is a wonderful video.🐾⚘ So, peaceful and fun to watch. It feels like I'm a part of the experience! Very nice.🐾💝
Love this. We also have a greyhound. Had two but one passed away suddenly in November 😞. We dog sit greyhounds regularly and have fostered over 50 greyhounds in the past 7 years. Love this breed
One of the most beautiful dog breeds ever. Particularly as a Pet. Thank You for what you do and the passion you do it with. New subscriber, so will do a bit of a catch-up. 🦴🐶🏡🇦🇺💗🐾What a kind and wonderful person you are. 👏👏
What a super person you are. I had 11 Sighthounds at one point. My one pure grey was Gentle Jill she lived to 18. They are so so beautiful. Thank you for caring and sharing.
They look like they’re sweet doggos. I grew with German Shepards, but after spending some time with my friend’s greyhound, I think I’m gonna adopt a retired racer.
Beautiful dogs.
We adopted a greyhound mix; I enjoy these videos to see how many traits our Sophie shares with pure greyhounds.
We lost our greyhound cross just over a year ago and have only recently been able to watch this type of video. She was awesome….her dad was a greyhound/whippet cross (the mind boggles) and her mum was a Brittany (spaniel) she was absolutely perfect. She had such a gentle loving soul. I was horrified when only 6 months after getting her I started with back problems and really had to limit our walks, I did discuss it with our vet and she reassured me that because she was so young and hadn’t really got used to long and multiple walks that she would cope well….just like a house cat! And she did…as I could walk less and less she really didn’t seem at all bothered, in fact I would go as far as to say she was more attentive to me. She seemed to know if I was in pain and was even more gentle……didn’t stop her climbing onto my lap though so I actually bought a wide seated recliner to accommodate both of us. I lost her at just 6 years old and the vet was as devastated as me she had a large tumour hidden in her chest cavity and when scanned only had one kidney that was deformed…she told me we were a partnership made in heaven. If she had been walked as much as a dog should she probably wouldn’t have had 6 wonderful years. But I still miss her so….
You are such a good mum to the dogs 💕
wow, I'm from Tallahassee and we have 4 greyhounds. Chuck, Koffie, Sherrie, and Tarah. They are all retired racers from Florida. We now live in the Shenandoah mountains in Virginia. Never a dull moment. I do like the fact that they like to sleep a lot.

@@smkauthor I don't know the exact track, but I do know they came from the Orlando area.
They're so funny. My guy literally follows me every step, all day, while I'm working. Which honestly gets to be a bit much sometimes. But then at night when I could actually use the company, that's the one time he goes in the other room and hides. lol
I owned a shepherd/greyhound mix. She was brindle in color. Ears that flopped like a greyhound and that high belly! My goodness she was so fast when she ran, she would trip over her shepherd feet. She was loving and funny. My first of many rescues.
Awesome video! Really enjoyed seeing these 4 lovely greys together
I loved your video, such beautiful animals. It warmed my heart ♥️
What a full day. They all get along so well. Thank you for sharing...🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
OMG 4 of them? Wow...They are so cute...Thanks for sharing Steph...
We got our greyhound through a Greyhound rescue organization. We go on 2-3 week vacations, and every time our contact at the Greyhound rescue insisted on pet sitting her because she knew our girl and our girl knew her. Like you, she wouldn't take money either. So we had to buy her Grocery store gift cards because reluctantly, she would take them. The entire greyhound community is a 'cult', but totally in a good way. :)
oh what a pleasure to come across your video! Always drawn to sight hounds for their beauty, grace and sweetness. The true gentlemen and ladies of the dog world.
Mesmerizing dogs..seen some years ago at the farmers market in Puyallup Washington, and they had some gorgeous ones that used to be racers, and I would just sit and look at them and at the time I did not have a dog. I really thought about in the future adopting one and then later on my daughter knew how much I loved those type of look of dogs whether it be a Chihuahua or a greyhound. My daughter knew of a lil Chi pup of an older friend. That was it❤️
I didn't expect such a versatile and entertaining video 😄 Great job! I like your and the dogs calmness 😊
Once they find something "interesting" somewhere, it has to be constantly mine found burnt sausages, burgers and some baked beans by a tree in the forest on a walk. They would always try to drag me to the magic food tree.
We have 3 greyhounds now and have had 11 since 1999. The most awesome, loving, sweet dogs out there. They are, indeed, the companions of kings.
I had 13 greyhounds and not one of them barked at the doorbell! Only one of them ever barked more than once in a year. I did have 4 of them concurrently a couple times. I was walking 4 of them in a nearby neighborhood in NE Ohio when I ran across a couple walking 4 more greyhounds! That was pretty random. I had 12 of those dog beds scattered across the house.

My one greyhound keeps me busy. Can't imagine 4!
Such affectionate and beautiful dogs. I've never been around Greyhounds so this was a good primer on what they are like. Our 30# rescue dog is 15 years old so she mostly sleeps through the day and can't go on long walks anymore. Thanks for sharing your dog day.
Oh that's some lucky doggos! ❤
They look like such sweethearts !!!
My dog hoards her treats. It is the funniest thing.
Steph the Awesome Greyhound rescue woman with an affinity for color.
Since my greyhound died, videos like this are satisfying because its simple everyday life stuff with greyhounds: love it
So sweet❤
My greyhound's day: Eat, pee, sleep, repeat. Some AM barking, no rooing ever, much waving of legs in the air to request belly rub. Ride in the car?!! Meals must be served on time. That's it. Such funny dogs.
I was exhausted by 9:00 am just watching!
Beautiful dogs, great temperament. My experiences with greyhounds and whippets are very nervous critters which does get them an undeserved reputation until you earn their trust.
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
i reaally love the eyeliner on these pups 🥰
So cute , I have a Red Fawn Grey , so many similarities it cracks me up. 💓🐾💓💙💓🐾
What a Greyt video thank you so much for making it. We are from the state of Victoria in Australia which I believe is about the last bastion in the world for legal Greyhound racing so there's lots of retired grey's here that need love, beds and couches, we wish we could accommodate them all. We love all your videos and have spent quite some time with our Floridian friend traveling throughout Florida on several occasions and love the US. Tomorrow I am going to cast this video to our TV for my wife to watch while our Greyhound 'Yankee' is asleep on the couch and see how he responds to all that rooing :)
You are so organized and calm, you literally make looking after 4 large dogs look like a walk in the park! I loved the Rooing! 🥰😂🥰 What a hoot. Good luck to you in all your endeavors 💕👏💕👏💕
We have greyhounds also and that's what they do. We love our rescued hounds.
Aw they are so sweet ❤

Also, since i just actually finished the video lol, you did a phenomenal job portraying what a day in the life of living with a greyhound looks like! you remind me a lot of myself because you sound quite addicted to this breed as am I… i got SO excited when u suggested a video with nial, max, layla and link!!! 😂😂🤣💜
4:18 sweet ! Like a cat. 😅
Great video, we have had up to 4 greyhounds of our own but currently have 2.
Those are beautiful dogs! Your video reminds me of a day in the life with one Wire Fox Terrier or German Shorthaired Pointer.
Ooooh, make it happen, for no other reason than to film it. Grey hound sirens are pretty intense. I wee the squeaky hound gets his preferred bed.
Had one an absolute love I miss...hoping to have two this time!
Fab video and great insight
I just stumbled upon this video. I had completely forgotten about all the Greyhounds we had back in the ‘90s when we had our little boutique farm. My tan one was Celica, we had a few brindles, Ralph looked like your Link. It brings tears to my eyes remembering each of them. We lived near the track in LaMarque, TX. Had so many fosters, too.
Lovely
Beautiful dogs...so elegant ❤️
Loved the rooing. My two greys never roo!
Love the bowls in a bucket. Great idea! It’s not hard to have multiple greys since they are so placid & loving.
I love this video! It's so relaxing. It's like Animal Crossing if it were about greyhounds. Greyhound Crossing lol
good job :)
I love the roooing!
