Oh my gosh, Steph is an amazing teacher! She took the time to ensure small groups of children were speaking and repeating. In this way, she could ensure that no child was missing out on a learning opportunity. Her annunciation was awesome! Many teachers do not take the time to pronounce words clearly, which is very important.

Should be having students answer “it’s a pencil” but was good besides that. Important not to let them fall into only using one word answers

In Google map, search for the name of the school: "ngoia ngu super minds". It is a village! But there are lots of bigger towns on the northern Mekong. So far I've stayed in My Tho, Vinh Long, Sa Dec (flower nurseries), and Cao Lanh which I liked the best.

Why do they not call it a farmer’s market instead of “Wet”?

  • @formica.

    3 жыл бұрын

Traditional markets have different sections. The wet market is literally wet - picture fish in tubs, shellfish, raw meat hanging, butchers, water everywhere. The dry section will have packaged food, spices, coffee, housewares. Usually a sit down to eat, or take out prepared meal area too. And big motorbike parking zone.

I legit thought about applying to teach English in Vietnam but it's so scary because I am a native Vietnamese speaker but I haven't spoken Vietnamese conversationally for over a decade. I was afraid I lost it and didn't want to embarrass myself. I genuinely appreciate the work you're doing! Keep it up!

No foreign English teachers can speak Vietnamese. Students will love that you are from overseas, their idea of dream life. Also Vietnamese and Thai are not at all judgmental like you are used to in the West.

You will be fine as long as you avoid the "small" schools that only want white foreigners. I'm Vietnamese and taught back in 2019 in Saigon. I met a Vietnamese girl from the States and she taught just fine. We didn't use Vietnamese in the school at all and honestly, it didn't matter if you know the language or not. As long as you can teach and the kids connect with you, you're good.
