A day in the life of Turnstile, hardcore's most ambitious band: The FADER x WAV Present Frequencies
Музыка
In the latest FADER x WAV presents Frequencies mini-doc, we ride with the Maryland hardcore band as they skate, explore the woods, and hang out on rooftops in between kinetic performances. The six-pieces is built on kinship - “everyone is just friends first and foremost,” frontman Brendan Yates says - which helps a group that's been on tour almost constantly since the release of 2018's Time & Space. “It’s hard to say where anything is going, but a band is constantly reflecting and growing, as each of us individually grow," Yates says. "I think that’s the most important thing."

One day we'll be looking back at Turnstile as we're doing now at Black Flag, Bad Brains, Earth Crisis and all the other Legendary Hardcore bands which influenced whole generations. @@scottthedelinquent yep just fine. Full of middle aged men playing songs from the 80's and 90's. Look at the top hit songs year by year rock is decreasing and is at an all time low. Rap has officially beat rock in whats just simply cool and trending. The new rock stars are rappers. We don't have stadium rockers or a solid large underground anymore. Both necessary for any scene to do well.

TJtubs the energy of rock has manifested itself into rap and a bunch of other genres. the music and art form will forever be relevant in our music world and culture.
This band's sound, their attitudes, and the look of their shows all remind me of the mid to late 90's local music scenes in various locales. Gives me good feelings to see kids still going nuts at some shows.

What franz said at 4:31 is true. Hardcore isn’t my favorite genre, don’t get me wrong I love it, it’s just cool that turnstile kinda transcends genre and is just a whole vibe. They make what they love and I love them for it. Best show I’ve ever been too was them at the metro in Chicago. Got to meet franz and Brendan was standing right next to me and I didn’t even know it. They’re humble guys that just love to jam and it’s amazing. Hope they tour forever!!!
You don't always see this. A band that is actually composed of close friends. A lot of times, the conflicts that arise in the business tear friendships up.
Franz nails it. I’m not particularly a hardcore fan, but their sound just pulled me in. Sooooo good. Can’t wait for the next LP.

Been listening to this band for a few years now and I can honestly say they bring something fresh and energized to my ears!
*A group of friends having fun, being chill, skating and writing some of the most groundbreaking hardcore songs of the past few years* Hardcore gatekeepers: "lol they're too nice. Not hardcore at all"
The most impressive thing to me is their friendship. The bit around the fire, talking about where they’re at and colours and stuff. Hats off to them finding their people and doing their thing.
I love they called out people not coming to them from the "hardcore" genre per se. I found these guys from an NPR Tiny Desk Concert and they fucking ripped so I watched their whole Glow On release video on hate5six. Amazing music and I'm pumped to learn they are chill, cool dudes as well.
Turnstile will always be one of the most influential hardcore bands of this generation, hands down beautiful man🔥
Saw these guys 4 times in the last 5 years. Always stoked for their set. Very different from other hardcore bands and I love it.

i saw these guys live and also discovered them for the first time at the grey day tour with $B , i could tell majority of the crowd didn’t know who they was but as soon as the first song came on it was such a euphoric moment
Damn, it feels like yesterday that they dropped pressure to succeed. Glad they’re still doing their thing, and every record, they branch out a little more creatively. Super sick.
This band brings a lot of hope for me.
As someone who grew up in Baltimore (and even DC for a little bit) never before this video have I seen a video that perfectly captured my entire youth. Thank you Turnstile

Just saw turnstile in Minneapolis, they went HARD and I will never forget their performance 🙏🖤
These guys living and breathing the 90s today. Their sound and spirit brings us back to the that 90s. Going over to your friend's house to chill, skateboarding, and listening to sick riffs. One of the best hardcore bands out there today. Great original sound.
Give the editor a damn raise.

These dudes are easily the most interesting thing to happen to the punk scene for many years. So stoked on Turnstile and can’t wait to see/hear where they can take themselves. I feel like they could reawaken the underground hardcore scene. Maybe I’m just talkin shit but who cares, I’m happy to have a new band to be stoked on!!

They reignited my love for hardcore and brought new stuff to make it more interesting for an old fart like me who's heard most of it all. Once the pandemic aleviates i hope they come down to Brazil, we need some of that energy!
