A Day in the Life of the SBB... what is it I do again?

A day in the life of the SBB, I do a Pre-purchase inspection (survey) of a Contessa 32, have a pleasant RIB ride across the Solent, do some varnish, painting and other day to day stuff.
I’m thirsty after all that talking, buy me a beer?…. www.paypal.me/RefitAndSail
If you have enjoyed this video and/or learned something you can now buy me a beer using the link above to make a donation to the channel. If I end up with more beer tokens than I need then I will put your donations towards a better camera, lighting and other equipment so it ultimately benefits you the viewer. I don’t do Patreon, I don’t sell T shirts but you can help support this growing channel. Thank you
My thanks to the owners of these boats for giving me permission to create this content based on the refit of their boats.

About Me
I run a small business called The Solent Boat Butler and spend my days repairing, maintaining and refitting sailing boats (often Contessa 32’s due to my long experience with them). I'm mostly in the central Solent area of the UK. Being a cruising and racing sailor with many thousands of inshore and offshore sea miles logged I like to think that I bring a great deal of real-world experience to my work and help many new (and not so new) boat owners to improve and maintain their boats. When I'm not fixing boats I also provide some own-boat sail training, help owners with deliveries, provide pre-purchase inspections and deliver consultancy services to those that are refitting their own boats for cruising or racing.

And a CO26 in Yarmouth harbor. I liked the "Day in the Life" format; nice to change things up every so often. Perhaps you can fashion a tether for the pens and secure the other end to your person. Black currant jam is the best.

Yes, there are at least two in the harbour, maybe more up the river. Thanks for the comment.

Very interesting video, thanks. That's the first time I've seen footage of Southampton Water since the chimney went. I couldn't figure out what I was looking at, at first, but then I had an "aaaaah!" moment

Very informative and entertaining. The admin part is never seen from the customer perspective but it is time consuming, all plumbers, mechanics and electricians know that. Regarding the pens, they don't die, they don't disappear : they just regroup 😇

Maybe if I loose enough pens around the boats I work on it will get to the stage that there will be pens I can pick up and use wherever I go?

I'd like to offer a suggestion for a video , how about varnish . Yes i varnish , but have never managed the depth of finish that grace , many a classic boat . I've also struggled with varnish staying on Teak . Which often resulted in complete removal , and start again . I ofetn over come this by using , Deks o lay , but only the base coat , and then recoating half way though the season . This results in a good finish , but with no shine at all let alone depth . Tried several different makes , International , Blakes , etc , with various levels of thinning , but i've just not found that sweet spot ?

@@RefitandSail Yes, that's a great suggestion, particularly repairing older varnish were the dreaded black mold has got to the teak faced plywood, or even floor boards. Thanks for producing this video too.

@@RefitandSail I would also be very interested in a video on varnishing. I am struggling to get a really nice finish - probably not cleaning brushes in the right way! Hadn't thought of using a roller.
