You guys are doing a great job with Pillow! He’s so tame and clearly is happy with you guys. My only piece of advice would be getting him a bigger cage. Even if he’s not in it all day he should have a bigger one so he has more room to explore and exercise. But great job you guys are great budgie owners 👍

I would recommend getting it a friend first, before loneliness subdues its zest for life permanently...a second small cage is useful to hang outside in a tree but a bigger cage should be one without a wire floor, which is painful to walk on, gives foot problems and reduces their useable space, The base should be filled every now and again with good quality garden soil and bird grit which gives them minerals and a chance to forage naturally.and the golden rule is a cage should be horizontally wide not tall, and it should have horizontal bars not vertical. A wide cage puts less strain on their hearts and a vertical bars eventually deform their beak/jaw..a second hand chinchilla cage would be better than what its got...for a bath you can fill the whole base of the cage with a centimetre of water and then stick a flat stone and a small bunch of carrot leaves or long grasses in the water, it should be as much of a deep 'puddle' as possible, so it is able to freely flap it's wings and move from one end to the other in the water, it will use the grasses to stand on and push around to make waves. also, I would not give a bird anything made for profit (cheap metal or plastic sold as a toy) (natural materials are easy to adopt) but yeah, it seems to have a better life than most caged budgies get.

The second bird arrived here yesterday. I took her from the animal shelter. She seems to be an albino. And was pretty aggressive yesterday towards Bierdie. Today it seems, as if they come along better now. The problem is, that Bierdie is not really able to fly. He is on a good way, but in comparison to her, he really is handicapped... We'll see, I have the option to bring her back, if they are not compatible and try another one. Hm.

Having mirrors in your budgies cage is really bad for them, since they think the bird in the mirror is teasing them since its copying everything that your budgie does.

That’s the happiest bird I know!

Happy bird. I adopted one unhappy bird today, who was never ever out of his cage for three years. Tomorrow we go to the vet, check him. And if we get a go and he can get a buddy hopefully a new better life for him will begin.

Latest information:he seems to be unable to fly. I changed the vet for today for not stressing him out to much. But he is much more active than in the beginning, walks through the flat and so on.

It is so cute I also have a house I will heal every day 🐤🐤🐤💕

This is the best thing I’ve seen all week. Pillow is so cute! I just recently got a budgie (I named mine Pluto) and he’s pretty tame already but he’s still wary. Which is underneath. I hope he is as happy as Pillow someday.

I just got a yellow budgie...he/she is very pretty has nice feathers. Still very young but already is allowing us to handle it with just about a week with us. I have 4 parakeets in total...a couple of them are somewhat tame, but one is just so mean. She literally bites want to rip out my flesh from finger when she perches....kind of wish I could let out around like that, but we have a dog and she's kind of nutty.
