I'm about to start working Dec 7th doing the exact same thing. Except with Samsung. Same schedule and everything. 4 days on days off, 3 days on and 4 days off. Compressed work week. I found this video very helpful and motivating for what I'm about to start. Wasn't quite sure what to expect. This def helped me with that

***** I did applied engineering at michigan state university. Getting into the fab as a tech doesn't actually require a degree. I'm in Austin and the semiconductor industry is huge. The guy's training me who've been there a while don't have their degrees. But having mine def helped with getting my foot in the door though. And I was told I can fast track up because of it. ***** "There" is SAS - Samsung Austin Semiconductor. Stop being such a hater bro

The tools in that chase with the snake logo process BEOL copper wafers. Copper will diffuse into silicon contaminating the lower layers unless a proper barrier liner has been deposited underneath. When a tech enters this chase, proper decontamination protocol is strictly enforced to prevent the possibility of picking up trace amounts of copper and accidentally contaminating a non-copper FEOL process tool. If a wafer in its early stages gets contaminated with copper it must be scrapped.
