Your reaction to the success of the morning, that you were basically just winning and didn't even need the rest of the day, reminded me of night hiking in Costa Rica. The first night, we were tired and cranky from travel and had to be dragged out on the trail. We saw so much amazing stuff that night, that every other night, we were begging to go out, no matter how late it was when we got done with other activities!

That brought back memories of camping in Kruger, hearing lions roar while trying to sleep in a tent...

Wow, you guys had amazing sightings! Leopards are really not easy to find, I'm so glad that you were able to enjoy them :) I totally agree, great sightings do not always equal great photos but that makes the great photos even more special and the memories of the great sightings live on.

You did get some nice images. In sketchy or changeable light, I've gotten good results using manual aperture & shutter speed with auto ISO. Gives me good control of depth of field. You said you're starting to like the R for wildlife but didn't say why. I didn't see it do anything your 5D Mark IV couldn't do (and probably better), except the touch screen movement of focal points. That's pretty cool. Thanks.

Like that you are liking the EOS R. I’m still on the fence about it. Maybe you need to start saying which camera you are using in the technical data on your shots. At least for awhile. Might help some of us decide if we want to upgrade or need it

Take a hammok next time when camping. Find a shady spot have a cold beer and before you know it youve had a power nap and ready for an afternoon drive. Works for me on days like these.

What lens do you use outside of the canon 100-400mm ii?....how comes you dont use the 1dx? Is it because of the weight factor...I'm switching to wildlife photography and I'm updating my camera bag to reflect this

I saw two other vloggers today who included clips from your channel for different reasons. One, pointing to you as an inspiration. The other trolled you for vlogging with an R on a big gimbal. To be fair, that setup looks heavy AF.

Really enjoying your safari journey. You mentioned that you're enjoying the EOS R for wildlife. What makes is work for you? Just curious, there's so much hate on right now for the camera, it would be great to hear your perspective (other than the video record button disaster!).

Honestly, it's not so much the R it's just mirrorless. Having the manual focus peaking is a game changer for wildlife in my opinion

Hi there. Nice work. I would question, though choice of shutter speed with challenging lighting conditions on almost stationary subjects - over 1/1000, ending up with high ISO - WHY?

Fast animals, moving Jeep, long lens, etc. Without I higher shutter speed you risk unsharp images.

Loved Kruger when I was there . I know folks like go in the drier seasons because they experience "more sighting but photographically speaking the landscape being so dry is so drab and unappealing.

I am not sure if the park has signs (most parks do) concerning opening your windows while in the park. Many tourists have died in South Africa alone by opening their windows in the parks, and therefore being attacked by an animal. Much love from SA just want you all safe!

Yup. But mostly because you don't want to be in the middle of the heard in case they get spooked and stampede. Then, you get squished.

I really enjoy your videos very much. I feel that I am right there with you. You have mentioned that you have problems with composition. I have a wildlife composition tip for you. Do not clip the feet. If the animal is standing in grass leave room for where you think the feet would be.
