It's recommended, you have to know yourself extremely well to not project your own stuff onto your clients.

Do you have any tips to help me get out of my head and get my intrusive thoughts gone? I have bad OCD and some nights I stay up not being able to go to sleep because of my OCD sleep cycle. I pray and do devotional but I need any tips I can get to help calm my anxiety and my bad intrusive thoughts I repeat to myself.

i know what you mean i do not have OCD but my sister does, and we both have pretty intense anxiety (like panic attacks etc) this may not apply to the OCD part but if i am having trouble at night sleeping then i do breathing exercises and pick a number in my head to count to.. sometimes though that doesn’t work and i am curious if you have any other sleeping tips as in the past year i have realized i have terrible insomnia where most mights it takes me an hour+ to fall asleep

@@hello-anonymous-advice Thank you and yes my aunt is a certified counselor and she has told me a few things, first you can remind yourself that your safe and if your a christian repeat that God is protecting you and that he created you for rest, next she said think about soft objects in your room like how your carpet feels or things like that, then i turn away my alarm clock or phone so that i am not constantly staring at the time and thinking "oh my gosh it is already 10, oh my gosh it's been 2 hours" cause that makes anxiety worse! I also listen to rain noise or a soft podcast sometimes to help calm me down. You can also read before bed because that calms your mind and if you have layer in bed over an hour you can go to another room till you feel sleepy or take a warm bath or shower to calm your anxiety! I hope this helps and I am going thru the same thing. I also take melatonin every night which you can do for up to a year
