A Day in the Life of a Salesforce Consultant

Ойын-сауық

Life as a Salesforce Consultant can be both exciting and challenging. In a client-facing role, you’ll need to stay up to date with Salesforce releases to provide your clients with industry-best practices and help to configure orgs based on business processes.
To help describe the day-to-day life of a Salesforce Consultant, I have recorded my ‘typical day’, including top tips and timings.
Please note that this is my interpretation, simplified; consulting roles can vary in terms of workload, and the number of clients you work with simultaneously. I love working for this Salesforce consultancy because it allows for amazing work-life balance!

    I'm currently working as a full time therapist (so no IT background at all) and have started the admin trail a few weeks ago! My dad has been working within the Salesforce ecosystem for the over a decade and has his own SF consultancy! He encouraged me to give it a try and see if it might be the right fit for me and I really think I'm leaning toward going for the consultant cert after finishing admin! This day in the life was so fun to watch and having seen and heard of so many sides of SF through my dad, I'm very excited to keep learning and see what more I can do!

    I love this video so much! And, what a fabulous puppy dog :) My goal is to eventually work with a consulting agency, and most likely one that works with nonprofits - I'm open at this point because I'm just starting on my Salesforce journey. As I sit here at my desk in my home office, as a social worker w/40+ clients, fielding call after call (often while simultaneously trying to keep up with emails, deadlines, billing hours, emergencies, and texts), I was transported through your video to a job where one can take breaks - and, only work with one client in the moment, what????!!!!

    Hello there! Thank you for sharing your experience. As a student of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, I am keen on exploring the incorporation of these fields with Salesforce. Could you guide me on the appropriate path to follow? While going through the Salesforce Consultant path, I came across Tableau. However, could you please furnish me with more information on this? Best regards from Fernanda in Argentina!

    Hi Megan, thanks for making this great video. So is your title Service consultant or Sales consultant? I am a bit confused as far as which certification to get (Sales cloud or service cloud) after Admin Cert to become a consultant. Which certs did you have to get? Thanks

    Hi Fred! Thanks for watching! Great question-and actually super commonly asked too! My title is 'Salesforce Consultant'-as a consultant that means we work with the various clouds/offerings that Salesforce has which includes Sales, Service, Marketing, Non-Profit, and so forth. Once you learn the platform, you can move forward to working with certain clouds in any industry.

    Super helpful Megan, thank you!! What would you say are the major differences between a Consultant and an Admin?

  • @Megantuano

    @Megantuano

    Жыл бұрын

    So glad you enjoyed it!! The major difference is that consultants usually get to be exposed to more Salesforce industries, and types of clients, along with working in a team enviornment. As an admin your primarly working for one comapny and their business process. You're that sole person for them, while as a consutlant you work with a client every so months, so it exposes you to Salesforce rapily! Great question!

    Happy to hear that! I’ve worked with both, smaller team which it’s myself and another consultant and then with a team of 6+ (developer, architect, business analyst, and engagement lead). I like having a big team because one can help where you might not know something but I will say, working by yourself or with just one person, you sure do get more experience with different roles :) Both exciting!

    Hi! Thank you for watching! You can come into Salesforce with any industry background, no coding or IT background needed :) You can start your Salesforce journey by navigating over to “Trailhead” a free learning platform provided by Salesforce. In order to be setup for success it’s best to take your admin exam so you can understand the platform! Please reach our if you have other questions.

    Hi! It took a while :) What was best for me to learn was thinking from a business perspective and industry approach. Think of amazon as a company, and start breaking it down from customer service, agents helping you, what prime means and so forth. Once you see the business as a whole it really helps!

    Hi Megan, whether Salesforce QA and Salesforce Consultant both are one and the same ? @OfficialSFben

  • @OfficialSFBen

    @OfficialSFBen

    4 ай бұрын

    Hi Shanthi! Salesforce QA involves testing and ensuring the quality of Salesforce applications, while a Salesforce Consultant provides strategic guidance and implementation expertise to align Salesforce with business objectives. QA testers verify functionality, identify defects, and maintain system stability, while consultants analyze requirements, customize Salesforce, and drive success for clients. Hope this helps!
