A Day in Marunouchi, Tokyo

Tokyo Station - one of the central areas of Tokyo. The area, called Marunouchi, is a business district that is actually a great place to take it slow on the weekends. Here's what it's like and what kind of photos you can easily take if you're in the area.

Very fancy area. I think there was a huge christmas tree and christmas show in the Kitte mall when I visited a few years ago. Still waiting for Japan to reopen :(

kageyamareijikun Yup, that area is really good during the Christmas season! KITTE, the Marunouchi Building and that long street all have decorations. Tokyo Midtown Hibiya which is just a little more south also has decorations. Yeah, I know what you mean.

Such a peaceful area. A mix of different architectural designs, lots of beautiful green space, clean and calming. Just such an interesting and pretty place to live. Tokyo is quite magical. This will sound crazy, some of the architecture is similar to Boston. Lovely serene video, therapeutic - especially in a time we all need to regroup and take care of ourselves better. Stay safe, stay well.

Thanks, definitely! That’s really interesting, I’ve never been to Boston (although it’s been on my list). I think the older buildings in Tokyo were influenced by western architecture.

@@barrettish Tokyo looks like a dream 🌠 I will have to do a little architectural research. Boston is lovely, and the surrounding sea side towns/islands.

Thanks for a beautifully filmed video. Many of the images deserve to be printed and framed. I was particularly taken with the shot of the Shinkansen train where nearly all the elements are blurred. Not sure if and when I'll ever make it back to Tokyo, but a video like this provides a real incentive to make it happen once travel from Australia to Japan is open again.

Thank you!! Yeah I switched from a Nikon DSLR to the Sony... the photo quality is great and the 4K video is really good. Not the cheapest but if you want something that can do both, it’s good.

There's a high-end dim sum place called Yau May in the district. Everything is made to order, the clientele is beautiful. Count on spending around ¥5000 per person and it's worth it. The Lotus Leaf Wrap 糯米雞 is to die for, though Tim Ho Wan's is pretty good too. Don't forget about the underground pedestrian areas!

haha yeah they entered Japan a few years ago and have been pretty popular since. I love the food that's available in Japan, that's the one thing that I've never really gotten that frustrated about while living here lol

Thank you!! Hmm, I don't have a place for computer wallpapers, unfortunately. I have cherry blossom wallpapers for phones though (www.barrettish.com/travel/post/japan/japanese-cherry-blossom-wallpapers). I also upload pics once in a while on my site (www.barrettish.com/log/post?category=Photo%20Log) and have a place for prints (www.barrettish.com/shop) but I'm planning on changing it soon.
