A Day in a Life of a Scrum Master 🤓
What does a day of a Scrum Master look like?
Ok, in this reel I’m not really showing you the full day. It’s just a snippet of a couple of hours I spent with the team.
What I’ve done during that morning:
✅ Attended a couple of meetings with the team such as refinement and daily scrum.
✅ Organized a few call for the upcoming days with a few people who I haven’t met yet
✅ Reviewed my 50+ pages of notes and highlighted the key insights
✅ Created a visualized overview of the team structures and org chart
✅ Started my Agile assessment presentation. Boy, that will take a while as usual…

@louper3002 the only positions that would be difficult to replace are the people oriented ones. You know.. like coaches, teachers, therapists, leaders... I don't think AI will ever be capable of detecting and understanding human emotions, team dynamics, learning tendencies, etc. Contrary to more machine oriented roles. AI can already write code. I mean, it just basically needs to crawl StackOverflow, where many devs spend a big chunk of their development time.

@logan4moua, unfortunately, many people misunderstand the SM role to the point of rendering it useless. If you're doing a good job you would probably need more time. I literally had to extend the hours on my most recent contract because I was running out of time as I was working on resolving a bigger organizational issue.
I see a lot of hardware and monitors on your desk. Is is necessary? What should I have to make my work most effectice? What would you reccomend to get?

Some of the hardware here is for filming, really. But if you want to appear more professional for your online meetings, having a better camera, microphone and lights can be great. I like having two big monitors as I can have several different windows open at the same time. The small monitor in front of me is attached to a teleprompter. So when I am on a call I can look directly into the camera when I speak and I can see meeting participants in the monitor. It's a great setup. @ScrumMastered
9 ай бұрын
@Fred-zt5ky I would not recommend anyone to just work on a laptop without any other hardware for a number of reasons. The number one: it's really bad for your back, your neck and your posture because you constantly have to scooch over your screen. And it's probably bad for your eyes too because you have a smaller screen to look at. Then, it actually slows you down A LOT because you have only one small screen to operate on, you constantly have to switch between windows, looking for the right one. And if you don't have a mouse... don't even get me started. Just moving around your screen takes 2-3 times more time. The only reason I don't use a mouse (sometimes) when I'm on my laptop is because I have a touch screen monitor on it. So if you care about these two things: your health and your time; then you should invest in the minimum: a keyboard, a mouse, and a monitor.

@ScrumMastered

@TacBlades, the results of the work are intangible and bring results long-term, not immediately. It's like fixing the technical debt - it's doesn't bring immediate value, but if we don't do it, we are going to be paying for it later. In my work, the easiest example of 'wealth generating' as you put it is optimizing workflows and processes that lead to increased throughout of work, less wait time. This can be translated into money terms in the amount of money the company saves.

@ScrumMastered
Жыл бұрын
As I said above, you have no idea what you are talking about. But at least you admit that you have no idea what the purpose of those meetings are and you are unwilling to learn. It's easier to blame "the system" when the real problem is how you are doing it. Imagine you go to a fitness instructor because you want to lose some weight and get some muscle. He tells you that you need to exercise 1 hour a day. But as you start doing it, your motivation dwindles. It's hard. It requires patience and commitment. You don't have it. 3 months later you complain that you didn't build any muscle. So your response is: "this instructor is useless, exercising is pointless". Many people who blame Scrum or a Scrum Master for all their problems do exactly that. They are unwilling to do the things right and then wonder why their job sucks. And before you say "I love my job, it's just this stupid Scrum that makes my job hell". Let me ask you this: do you love just sitting in a silo and doing your thing (like coding all day)? Cause while the company hired you for this skill, they actually expect you to be able to deliver on a higher scale, not just your single task, and that requires you to effectively work as part of a team - this is what Scrum is trying to help you do smoother. Damn.. that got long 😂 Sunday mornings, man
