A Day by the Runway at Edwards Air Force Base, Novembe 2, 2000

The Space Shuttle Discovery departed from Edwards Air Force Base on a Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier on November 2, 2000. Before the Shuttle departed, a NASA F/A-18 Hornet chase plane took off, the Boeing NB-52B Stratofortress took off with an X-38 Crew Return Vehicle, and the Boeing 737-900 prototype made a low pass along Runway 04. After the Shuttle departed, the X-38 descended to Rogers Dry Lake under a giant parafoil.

Great Video Brian. I grew up right next to Edwards in the 60's and spent a lot of weekends on the base as a young boy back then. My Father was on the Flight Test Team, and all those great guys and families knew each other. So us kids got to spend time on both the base and the Dry Lake bed, plus watch the Air Shows. The good ole days.
