A Day at the Queens Building - Heathrow Airport 1987 - 1996) Part 7

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Wonderful memories from the legendary Queens Building at Heathrow airport. Filmed in the late 1980's and early 1990's by my aviation friend Ian Austin, this video shows the many treasures Heathrow once had to offer on a DAILY basis.
We were truly spoiled by the many different aircraft and airlines. For me personally this series of videos keeps the many good memories I have of 'old' Heathrow alive and documents beautifully how the landscape there has now changed forever. For the better?
Here is a line up to grace any runway!

I flew from Heathrow to Seeb, Muscat in the late 80’s as a kid on a Gulf Air Lockheed L-1011 Tristar

1987 was my first intercontinental flight on a BA 747 from LHR to SEA. For me as a teen it was a great adventure back then.

The aircraft pattern range in those days was definitely wider than today!

Top footage of now extinct birds in aviation. Thanks. Very soothing effect for retro aviation footage junkie.

Interesting how some of these planes you distinctly remember. EgyptAir's 'Cheops', for instance (40:22)

Interesting/sad to see UA picking up the PA routes midway through the video. Also, sometime in there, TWA sold its LHR slots/routes to AA and moved their LON flights to GTW. Never the same after.

Yes PAA/TWA, left Heathrow in April and July 1991. Things have never been quite so good since. Please feel free to share this video and any of my other videos with aviation fans. Thanks

Back when plane spotting was fun. Before every plane looked like it was stamped out with a cookie cutter: twin engines, on the wings, conventional tail...yawn. 🥱
