This is almost exactly my routine when I was deep into my ED. Back in those days Tumblr was the place to go for this kind of "advice". The thought of another vulnerable person watching vids like hers for "fitspo" makes me so sad

ah i relate!! tumblr was where it started for me too. so many #proana blogs and photos. it breaks my heart to picture young insecure minds watching . i’m lucky i went to treatment and have since healed but i wasted 10 years of my life trying to maintain this way of existing.

I'm totally relating too! I've lost over 30 years of health and happiness to ED. Mine was type 1 diabetes specific, so I have serious long term health complications because of my desperation to be "thin enough". Therapy didn't help.... no one had really recognised diabetes specific ED yet. I was too ashamed to be 100% honest with anyone. I finally orchestrated my own recovery by focusing on "healthy mind, healthy body". These vids help my daily battle! 😊

This video was far beyond extreme. The normal ones you react to have at least 1300 calories which is still pretty unreasonable but this one tells young girls how to bring themselves close to death. Another extremely dangerous thing in this video was using high levels of water to cope with hunger. While drinking plenty of water is awesome on a normal diet, for someone who barely eats, the water will deplete the already dangerously low levels of electrolytes and minerals in the body.

TW ED! Just sharing part of my story. Watching this video felt so familiar- and I hope that she can break out of it. It's hard to watch, but I've been there. A few years ago I struggled with anorexia athletica and exercised 6-8 hours a day, every day. I starved myself the whole way through it. So many people in my life were either aware of the harm I was doing and afraid to intervene or supportive because they were jealous that I was "so athletic." A year or so after I fell into a more binge-restrict cycle, and even now I still catch myself trying to force myself to work out when my body clearly needs rest. It takes a lot of work, but I'm beginning to actually be conscious of my body's needs and cues while I try to rework my motivations for moving my body. Good luck to anyone else struggling out there. It's not always easy, but you *can* find a healthy relationship with food and your body. I know it. ❤ p.s. thank you adam for reminding me so often that my body and food are not the enemy- you're doing great work :^)

Thanks for making this video. I used to have bulimia and used to obsessively exercise. I'd be like 130-140 pounds and still think I was fat. It wrecked my body badly, I still have health problems from it to this day and this was 20 years ago. Also, it's very likely if she chooses to resume a normal lifestyle she will gain all the weight back. Slow and steady wins the race.

Last time i had a bout of anorexia/eating disorder i was really really upset. I was going through something emotionally and i just started fasting. I fasted for like 3 days straight just water and coffee NO fruits or food . I ended up in hospital because i was in horrible pain, when i was there i did a pee sample and ny pee was brown / black and the nurse said i was in ketosis and if i dont leave the hospital and eat something decent im going to ruin my kidneys ....... I didnt even begin to start dealing with my issues untill a year after that happened. Thats the worst part of the story. I had to roll into the deep end and get sick of living like that before i decided to begin recovering.

@Nathan Sobel I just wish I knew about intuitive eating back in the day honestly that just wasn't a thing. I was just told all my life that you have to cut out sugar completely and you have to just toughen up because no one wants to date a chubby girl. I went on every diet possible because I was desperate to get rid of the excess weight. When I finally just ate in a calorie deficit and ate foods I loved still weight started coming off because I didn't feel deprived.

@@nicolefranjevic5380I’ve done intuitive eating for a while and I’ve never been close to overweight(closer to underweight) when COVID hit i started going on 2 hour walks daily and lost 10 pounds. Despite being at a healthy weight and very active my grandpa can’t stop making comments whenever I eat anything with sugar, or eat a lot of food at any meal. And they’re very clear you should lose weight comments. And lately I’ve gotten into the habit of skipping breakfast and having a light lunch mainly because I can’t find anything easy enough to make for breakfast, but also now his comments are actually getting to me and now it’s partially for weight loss.(I weigh 125-130, depending when I weigh myself, and im 5 feet 7 inches)

On a side note, I skip most breakfasts: but it's because I'm genuinely not hungry. I work late and don't eat until get home, sometimes around 11-12. I'm normally not hungry until after I get home from the gym, or just later in the morning on my rest days. If I ever AM hungry, you best believe my ass be eating that breakfast, though!

I would really like to know your views and opinions on bariatric surgery. Post surgery and weightloss dieticians advocate 800-1200 calorie diet as maintenance calories. What would your approach be towards someone who has had surgery to getting back to a realistic level of eating and whilst also maintaining weightloss. As statistics show that many end of regaining the weight around 2-5year mark.

I never admitted publicly what I eat in a day though because I didn't want people to be concerned for me. In my head, I was doing "just fine" but other people "wouldn't get it." But deep down I knew it was because I was doing something very dangerous and I didn't want anyone to try to make me stop.

Sadly, this isn’t just unhealthy, people will most likely gain weight even faster, if they don’t eat or barely eat. I feel bad, I’m old enough to know what my sister did, even if she started gaining weight after leaving a tox!c relationship, I’m just happy she’s healthy. I’m struggling and used to have her as my role model because I had no one else to look up to, since most of my closest family are overweight or obese. I’m happy it wasn’t too late before I followed her path too far.

So she succeeded, and you say that if she continues down this road she'll die... Well that's a bit dramatic. It's like telling someone who slammed on the brakes to avoid a crash that if they continue suddenly stopping like that, they'll wear out the pads and need an expensive visit to the mechanic...

I thought it was a little dramatic too but if I had an eating disorder perhaps I might appreciate it being taken so seriously even if overserious, it's better than having him lie and be overly gentle I guess. It's meant to shock. I do think Adam could be less intimidating though, it does feel like it's victim shaming in a way.

@@brittanys505 he's either a clown or a grifter. He's trying to attract people to his programs who are lazy or don't really want to change, then he strings them along with his version of "realistic" and "healthy" "results". If you start off incredibly fat, you can expect incredibly fast results. Also, you literally can't starve if you're obese, that's what the fat is for.

You can starve if you're obese as the fat won't replace vitamins and such that keep your vital organs working. heart, liver and kidneys can all fail and pretty fast.

He's telling the truth though. She's not nursing her body correctly and she will die if she doesn't start eating right pretty quick as the vital organs need way more to continue to function. Cars can still function with worn out brakes the human body dies without proper nutrition. The two couldn't be farther apart.
