A Dangerous Spirit: The Lynching of Lucian Weaver

On July 14th, 1879 Lucian (also listed as Lucius) Weaver was the victim of an extrajudicial murder by a group of men in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. Weaver was accused of assaulting Mrs. Sallie Stipes-Howell the wife of John Howell at their home in rural Jefferson County.

    Yes I like there's a KZread channel of this nature considering my dad's side of the family originally comes from Elkhorn West Virginia. You often times don't hear about black history in Appalachia.

    Originally from WV I can say in fact there are few Black folk in WV today. 100 years ago? I haven't a clue. I'll have to look up Elkhorn. I left the state in 1983. Come to find out my Mom's folk come from Mullens WV just over the ridge from you all. Howdy neighbor!
