Great review. Just to clarify, you can change the keycaps right with any standard key cap sets? lol

Will there be interference on row 3 when using cherry profile keycaps like there would be with north facing mx switches, and if there is would oem profile work instead? Also in general do you think it feels good to use cherry profile keycaps or anything else that isn't the stock keycaps with this board, in techne's review he said it felt "sticky" and not as smooth?

Nice review. I have a question though. At 6:26 you used a different keyboard to compare height. Can you tell us what that keyboard is?

Optical switches can be incredibly smooth, but the options right now are quite limited and I'm not sure if they are as easy to mod (film, lube, spring swap, etc.). I used to have a Razor Huntsman TKL with optical reds that were super smooth but incredibly loud and too light for typing.

Hi Betty, A wonderful in depth review! Thank you for using my suggestion and leaving the clips of your cat in [as JB Playroom said "Cat likes RocCAT"]. These red optical switches still sound fairly loud. I have heard of Roccat, but I haven't had any experience of using them. The low profile keys look interesting.

I’ve got the full-sized version of this keyboard (well the Vulcan 80 with Titan brown switchs, as I don’t care for RGB and need a numpad) and I’ve been using it at work for the last 5-6 months (mining consultant) so put a few miles on it each day. The shine is real! the lovely matt finished keys ‘shine’ really, really badly. Even cleaning with soapy water, the polish is real. This shine develops after about 10-20k key presses. So about 2-3 weeks at work. For a gamer, the WASD keys would take a beating. I’ve yet to wear the paint off, but it’s only a matter of time. THese keys are Lazer etched, not double-shots. (Specific to the Titan Browns: I find the key feel ‘alright’ but the switches actuate prior to the tactile bump (grrr!) which is really irritating. ) As a fashion piece it looks great (just don’t touch it 😉. ) Another great feature is that all of the bottom row keys are convex in profile. not just the spacebar. I agree with your recomendation: nice, but, better to look elsewhere As of this morning it has been changed out for a Matias Tactile Pro (Much more tactile, and better key feel.)

@@kubasniak the HP Omen-1100 keyboard has a convex bottom row (I've got one.) it's a full sized clicky (Greetec Blue) keyboard. I really like it. PBT double shots with shine through. Font is 'gamery' and the wasd keys are red not black. Deck is strong and ridged. It's pretty no frills (only fixed colour back lighting) but great for typing if you like clicky switches.

I bought it so I could program macros in. Could you make a video on making macros on it?

As simple a question as this is I simply want to screen print using the FN Key... Is there another command Key that needs to be used with it? I'm a video editor and I use this function often to re-create artwork. I can't find anything about the command anywhere... It's crazy... Thanks so much if you can help. Don't have my original manual.

I bought this keyboard about a year ago, and really enjoy it. The only thing is typing for some reason is a little bit of a challenge. I have been typing on keyboards for over 40 years, and I still struggle on this keyboard for some reason. Playing games though is perfect. The quality is high, and appearance is amazing.

The rgb looks great but I am in love with keyboards that have all hte keys toguether without any gaps, I am currently looking for a 65% or 75% keyboard to use as my main keyboard. I got the huntsman mini today as it was one of your recomendations for a fast keyboard and I love it so much, but I really miss my arrow keys.

The key-caps just don't have long skirts around them. They're like that to let all the light come out. That's a great thing!

Looks great, my Logi G915 stabilizers and keycaps are terrible, so much rattle.. wish I bought this instead.

Since I know where ALL the back cover screws are, it's highly likely I've taken it apart. I've found the majority of the bothersome key "clacking" is the key hitting it's bottom BUT reverberating inside the plastic back cover. Take the back cover off, lay the keyboard on an absorbent surface, like a couple towels, or a dish pan absorb mat or such, and you find the clacking reverberation reduces substantially and the keyboard is much quieter. Obviously, unless you can stop the key from bottoming out, it won't be totally silent. The keyboard backcover inside needs a coat of rubber material, hint*hint. I'm doing that and more because I don't necessarily need to sound like an stenographer using an IBM Selectric typewriter.

Seriously considering it for my next build, actually love the keycaps shape and how they make it look. I like that it is NOT low profile, it's just a design choice. I think I'll go with something else because first I wish the keycap material was better, second I'm looking for tactile, and it also is a bit expensive for what it brings. Maybe a good wrist rest and additional media/macro keys or led indicators would have swayed me completely. The knob is a nice touch though. Thanks for the detailed review, you're great

It's a good price still in 2022. I bought it for 105.

Roccat must have regular and good pbt keycaps coz the low profile keycaps make no sense with regular switches imo LOve that knob and built quality though!! Great content as always

ive been searching so long but i havnt found anything to that, maybe you can tell me, are the switches soldered or can i easily get them out with a switch puller? I wanted to spray paint it white but for that i have to remove the switches to so that Information would help me :)

In the TKL Pro they are hot swap so you can just pull them out :) Gently..

The Keychron K1v4 you reviewed is low profile but this is regular. Switches' travel is normal. Right?

Yeah this is a regular sized switch with less travel distance, but not quite low profile

"And it got a volume knob" yeah one that dosen`t work, at least for me it didn`t Had the same issue with my vulcan 122. Not sure if Im missing some setting in the software or something...

Are there any mechanical switches that feel similar to these? I have these and oh my they are the best switches I've ever tried, I just want a customizable mechanical keyboard that feels like these ones. :)))

The volume control is actually a rotary encoder. I think the cat likes it because it is a Roc-cat (or maybe he/she thought you were calling him/her)!

Love your videos on keyboard reviews. Would you say the red switches has more of a louder sound over the browns? I do love that 'loud clicking' noise every time I type. Currently been using the Roccat 120 (brown) and looking at getting the 121 version with red switches.

Brown should be similar to or slightly louder than Red switches. But if you want click, you really should go for Blue switches (Razer calls theirs Purple). Most of the click from Red/Brown comes from the key bottoming out. Blue switches have more of a, what I would call, "chad click"; They're proper clicky. I honestly feel like Brown switches don't have that much of a reason to exist. They're too similar to Reds, without offering the linear smoothness that Reds do. I'd say either go for Reds if you want linear smoothness, or go Blue for the CLICK.

Came for the keyboard, stayed for the cat.

Sweet! I love floating key caps, but even all the low profile keyboards I've found have some deal breakers. The sound is quite nice, but I wonder how they sound when you really mash them since they can't bottom out onto the board. Also I maybe it'll be possible to get these key caps and put them onto a regular keyboard ...

I like their thin keycaps design. Lots of light shine through without you needing to switch those pudding keycaps. I much much much prefer this one over razer huntsman te. Please wait for it to go on sale though since it is priced unreasonably high as Betty mentioned.

I like almost everything about this keyboard, love the switches, but PBT should be included at this price, or at least an option. Lack of macros, not a game-breaker for me but there are a lot of MMORPG gamers out there. Perhaps this can be fixed in software? Wasted mute button this should be a programmable. Price difference between this and the G915 TKL right now is 20$ Not sure which or if I will choose either.

Majority of the people buying this keyboard are buying it mainly for the design that lets the RGB shine though. From a performance perspective, there are many other keyboards out there.

They had a special on it and I got one for $130, I love it. To me I got it because of the low profile keycaps and the new design. So many keyboards just look so basic and boring. I like the fact that is it different, and the design also makes it easy to keep clean too.

Underglow due to open floating keycaps is HORRIBLE on all of "like this" designs ... G915 does not have much of the bleed, and is the only one I could relate to, like it, but not crazy enough to pay it over $200 lol From K740 regular office keyboard, I got K7 Keychrone to test... turns out not many mechanical keyboards offer that super low profile of the keyboard so palmrest is not required... really hard to find it...

The cat was the best part.
