A Custom Colt from Miami Vice
Ойын-сауық
Hit TV show Miami Vice did a lot of things right: the colors, the cars, the style, and of course the firearms.
By hiring IPSC and USPSA shooters as well as shooters of various other disciplines as technical advisors, the guns of Miami Vice had an authenticity and cool factor all their own. Case in point is this Colt 1911 MK IV Series 80 Government model used on the series that underwent significant custom modifications by Richard Heinie.
Not only was the pistol featured on Miami Vice, and wielded by Liam Neeson, it even made the front cover of American Handgunner Magazine.
This May, Rock Island Auction Company will offer this Richard Heinie custom long slide 1911.

You can tell Keith likes his Miami Vice … that makes him pretty cool in my book!
I like Crockett’s Smith and Wesson 645 and the BREN TEN.
Props to whoever it was to choose the background music. I'll Never Die by Daniel Gunnarsson is an Amazing Synthwave Song and it suits this videos 80s theme beautifully.
Huge fan of long slide 1911's, huge Miami Vice fan. Heinie's work looks impeccable. I will go to see this gun in Bedford. I can't resist (I'm sure I can't afford as well 😊).

The photography and filming in this video is just awesome
Outstanding, the 1911 is so iconic, as is Miami Vice, what a show, what a gun👍
Passed up a chance to trade for a HEINIE, from Richard himself, and I will always regret that I turned down that trade.
I would love to have that gun can't wait to go to the auction
I remember reading an article in one of the prevalent gun magazines decades ago about an Officers 1911 comp made by Richard. It was very interesting, especially how he worked out the ports on the comp. It was a beautiful compact and I think it even had 20 lines per inch checkering on the front and back strap. I was in my early twenties and would hover over the pictures just aching for me just like it. State of the art at the time. It was so clean and detailed and I wanted one so bad. I don’t remember how much it was, even if I had the money, it was never going to happen. A young family was the focus, so instead, a few years later I opted for a two tone 5” Springfield Armory 45 ACP that I saved up for. Never forgot that beautiful pistol from Richard Heinie though. The comped pistol shown is a craftsman’s masterpiece pistol showing the careful attention to detail.
Huge Miami Vice fan. Beautiful Heine 1911.
Chet was an awesome guy and he would have loved seeing this! Thank you so much for showing his gun!!
Every time I look at my Colt Double Eagle, I think of Miami Vice.
Smith & Wesson 645 1911. Great Gun ✌
bonjour superbe vidéo de présentation complète de colt 45 des année 80 merci de se partage vidéo cordialement
Beautiful
That one remind me of a Randall stainless steel 45. Also I was a big Miami vice watcher love the show.
Absolutely amazing
Awesome, pistol!
It’s a beautiful piece 👍🏻
Very nice and thanks pal.
I love it I love it colt is awesome
Beautiful firearm !!
Awsome show growing up. Nice weapon. Crockett had a good piece and Stubbs a snobby. Never understood that

@thomasgonzalez9175: Producer Michael Mann requested that Crockett carry a state-of-the-art handgun, hence why he used cutting edge semi-automatics, a Sig Sauer P220 in the pilot, the Bren Ten in seasons one and two, a Smith & Wesson 645 in seasons three and four and a Smith and Wesson 4506 in season five. Tubbs carried a Smith and Wesson Model 49 Bodyguard across all five seasons. This was chosen to better reflect his "from the streets" background, having accesses to cheaper readily available weaponry.
Wish I could tell my '3 degrees of separation' from Miami Vice, but for privacy reasons of that tie, for now, just a sad tease.... memories!
I'd forgotten about Miami Vice and can't really remember what guns they had but I do remember that Tubs often packed a sawn off style of shotgun which I think was double barrelled and almost certainly 12 Gauge although I suppose that it could have been a 20 to make at a bit easier to hold on to.

Ah South Beach in Miami is one of the most unique and fascinating places I have ever been . At night it’s an adult wonderland. The food is smooth and hot , the women are the same but in a dazzle of tan and sweaty elegance . Yeah , you only live once and you better experience it .

Bren Ten was too unreliable with blanks (it was converted to .45 ACP, so it was not 10mm Auto version). That is why they switched to S&W 645 after the 2nd season. Ant then to S&W 4056 in the final season. If you mean what happened to Bren Ten in story/canon of Miami Vice universe, it was never explained. Perhaps Crockett just liked 3rd generation Smiths better.
I was binging Miami Vice a few months back. Always noting their weapons. Crocket mostly carried a 1911. Tubs always carried a dinky little 38 snub nose. The show always embellished their weapons capabilities, like Tubbs and the lady cops shooting their widdle snubby at sniper distances . And in many episodes uzis and Mac 10s were considered the ultimate state of the art weapons. If I were Philip Michael Thomas I would’ve protested for a bigger more impressive weapon. Not only because Crocket the Pocket Rocket came off as the lead character when Tubbs and Crocket were supposed to be equals, but that doofy little snub nose kind made Tubbs look slightly emasculated next to Crocket. RIP Elvis. Elvis was the true ultimate weapon on the show. I’d trade half my arsenal for a boat alligator

Michael Mann hired Jim Zubiana to teach Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas. Jim said Thomas was not into guns at all but when he had to use them, he preferred the small J frame S&W’s and the short sawed off double barrel since they were less menacing.,
Damn I still have that copy of American Handgunner. Yeah I’m a turbo nerd.
That Colt will bring Thousands of dollars. Don Johnson should show up and bid on it!
Don always carried cool guns first few episodes a bren 10 , then a 645 Smith mostly

More than a few episodes. Sonny Crocket/Don Johnson choice of handgun in Miami Vice pilot was SIG Sauer P220 .45 ACP, rest of the 1st season: Bren Ten ("10 mm Auto", but it was converted to .45 ACP), The first episode of 2nd season: Some (probably series 70/80) Colt 1911 .45 ACP , rest of the 2nd season: Bren Ten "10 mm Auto". Season 3 and 4: Smith and Wesson model 645 .45 ACP Season 5: S&W model 4506 .45 ACP. Backup guns in ankle holster: 9mm Detonics Pocket 9 (pilot episode), .45 ACP Detonics Combat Master (seasons 1-3) and 9mm S&W m6906 (seasons 4-5).
Love to have it, but will sell for more than both of my cars combined
wonder what the bidding will start at
How does this stack up against the modern competition guns like the 2011 (seems to have all the features but what must be nearly 40 years before them)?
I'm stuck in the Middle East until after the auction, otherwise I would take a trip just to see this pistol. Gig'em
wow
Bedford TX, what about Rock Island IL!
I wonder how much it can go for .
I have a few night hawks and a cabot apocalypse. I will always appreciate a good 1911. Hope u sell it for the owner for alot
I assume the auction already happened, any idea what it sold for? If it hasn’t happened how does one bid?
Wow

Lifegoals....homeless, but I'll have this pistol!

So many FIRSTs as a result of the show MIami Vice as many of us know. From turning a dead treet into a hot spot, fahion incluence (whether you liked Crokettès look or not heh), firsst show to film car chase scenes with Supercars like a muic video, to have rock stars as characters, pop stars, Supermodels, trying to make look a srealistic as pooibe on prime time TV (had it been on HBO they would have gotten away with so much more).... Had no idea this gun wa in the show...actually didnèt hear about tis gun till this year...heh...mentioned on another YT channel....maybe you could do another video highlighting the guns used in MV...e.g the Ben TEN.....funny with the hype from the show the company came and went...heh....iirc someone tried t revive the gun but couldnèt.... This show so deserved to have been on HBO :)) Look at all of what The Soperanos goet away with :)

I’m sorry but Gina shoots first.
Funny, I don't remember any of the main characters ever using a 1911! Sonny used a Bren Ten at the beginning and then later a Smith & Wesson autoloader and tubes used a snub nose wheel gun and a short barreled pump shotgun with a pistol grip.
