A Crazy Day in DELHI (I Did Not Expect This!) 🇮🇳
With it seemingly impossible to get out of Delhi by rail (despite my best efforts with the IRCTC online ticketing system), I had another 24 hours to check out more of the City’s culture. I headed from New Delhi Train Station on a rikshaw towards Connaught Place in search of traditional dress (known as kurta pyjama) before heading to the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Temple - but I had no idea of the crazy day that awaited me.
Despite my haggling, the emporiums of Fab India and Delhi Heat proved to be too rich for my budget (with the latter refusing entry whilst filming), but thankfully I managed to find an excellent alternative for a fraction of the price at the Swag Store just around the corner. Suitably appointed for the temple, my new found swagger got the better of me, and before I knew it, I was serenading the locals with a stunning rendition of Still Standing by Elton John - absolutely crazy!
Nevertheless, I continued on to the temple where I was blown away by both the beauty and tradition, as well as the friendliest locals that I have yet to meet in Delhi (a truly special welcome). Having spent some time soaking it all up, and stopping for pictures with the friendly locals, I headed back towards Connaught Place with a pitstop for some of Delhi’s street food along the way - including my first taste of roasted momos, alongside tandoori chicken, and a chicken biryani. Having eaten these in the back of the rickshaw, little did I know that in just a couple of hours, I would be stricken with the notorious Delhi belly, rounding off a truly crazy day in New Delhi.

The tourist ticket office is now down the road (turn right as u face the station) at the Rail reservation Centre. Fill out a form and you're away.

No problem mate. It used to be on the 1st floor of the main station but moved during covid. The office for tourists is right at the back of the reservation offices and you get an actual physical ticket. Never had any issues with no available seats or anything like that.@@InvestedAdventure

The tuk tuk driver took you to a commission shop. You took a wise decision not to buy from there. And btw, that was not the genuine fab India store.

Thanks for that Vikash! I rewarded the guy pretty well on two days with his fare, but I understand that they’ll still try and make some money where they can. Amazing though that it’s not the actual Fab India!
