    The reason there is more females in the industry is the same reason there is more females' graduating from college these days. Parents often pay for their daughters education while telling their son to go pay for it on their own so there are just 10 to 15 % more female in the education system.

We are completely inenudated with orders right now and have not only paused the website but will be spending this coming Monday trying to pack up orders amongst all the other ranch work going on right now. If we are not able to get to your order Monday we will let you know as we are running into dry ice and packaging issues that we are trying to get ordered in as fast as we can. Please be patient as we usually ship on the first and third Monday Of the month but have yet to deal with this many orders at one time. Thank you!

    I completely agree! And, I'm a suburban, white male, of privilege. I'm saving this video to play for my 9 year-old granddaughter who so loves all living creatures. She'll adore this! Positive role models; that's the ticket! What this society needs so much more of, from and for. Doesn't even have to be this particular lifestyle pursuit. A positive role model is someone who always does what they say they're going to do - always follows through.

  • @ORflycaster

    ABSOLULTELY! She's the real deal. Intelligent, thoughtful, independent and self-sufficient, hard working, confident, tough but naturally feminine, and quite pretty with a little of the green stuff on her cheek. Within the cattle ranching community she's not the exception, but she is (and those like her) the gold standard for what women should be.

  • @Tea53mk

    @Tea53mk

    10 ай бұрын

    @zizendorf I'm sorry to say this but you're not privileged in any way. Please don't believe that just because of your skin colour you're somewhat more privileged. Studies have shown that the % of minorities finishing University and with that having better paying jobs is much bigger than that of fhe majority white population. You don't owe anyone an apology for being white because you had to climb the ladder just like any other human being out there. So please don't feel like you're privileged. There are a lot of white people from Eastern Europe.. millions who don't have the privilege to go and attend a good school or get a good paying job, it's the same with people of colour, there are a lot of people who struggle and race has nothing to do with it. Its just the way the world has always been. If you look at the past there were African nations who were taking slaves from Europe because economically they were more powerful, not to mention the Mongol empire. So the illusion that only white people have been on power and oppressed other people is really not based on historical facts. People have always oppressed other people regardless of their race and yes racism exists and discrimination exisists till this day, but it goes both ways.

    I like her style of moving the cattle, with the shhh, shhh. I remember when I first worked on a ranch, all the guys were hoopin and hollering and whistling and jumping all around, except one guy. I asked him why he doesn't do what everyone else does. He said "Because all that noise and ruckus, increases their stress and makes for a more rowdy situation. Do you see how big their ears are? They can hear you, you don't need to yell and holler. You just need to get a couple going and the rest will follow." She does really well with that.

    I taught for 20+ yrs and then started my 10 acre homestead. I raise chickens for eggs and meat, hope to restart my honeybees next year, and have raised meat goats for 3 years. Not too bad for a retired 67 yr old single woman who still can't pull the starter rope on a lawnmower - but that's part of the goats' jobs! Grew up in steel mill area in WV, but moved to Texas many yrs ago for a great job. I am now going through Annie's Project for women ranchers. So it's never too late to start a new direction.

    It's a bit more complicated than that. Costs are so high, many young people don't want to get into farming or ranching for obvious reasons, the older generation dies and the land is sold, often to developers or the large factory farms. We need to support small farmers and farmers and ranchers in general. I go to farmer's markets when ever I can. For a good reason their products are more expensive than the grocery store and sometimes I have to cut back. I just bought local honey and it's delicious. WE all need to step up. Our food does not come from the grocery store, it comes from people like her. I try to buy from a local butcher whenever possible. I hate the idea of those huge factory farms but....I don't know how to change that. I love her. I think we need to respect the animal whos purpose on this planet is to feed us. They are sentient beings and are a living being and that sacrifice they do for us, the purpose that they fulfill for us, needs to be respected with kindness and care. I really think the world has more methane contributors to worry about other than cow farts.

    Smart, bright, supremely competent. She is not a “cowgirl”. She is a business woman who happens to work with livestock. The interviewer did not do his homework and showed up largely uninformed. Maybe that was by design? She was gracious enough not to put too fine a point on that. There are plenty of intelligent people who are not that smart..She is a great example of someone who is both. I believe her when she says that she has traveled to six of the seven continents and is as comfortable in the city as she is out on the range. Wow! I loved watching this video. Evidently you don't watch Peter's channel very often. He has been to every part of this country, urban and rural, as well as to many other countries as well. His demeanor and interview style are such that he finds almost instant rapport with subject at hand. He comes to it with an open mind, which is what you seem to perceive as uninformed or not doing homework. He lets the source do the talking and asks the simple yet relevant questions he knows viewers would like to hear. Brilliant. He is, in my own view, the best of his type out there, not leastwise because he is so likable and genuine.
