Another insight showing how important Michael Piller was for the integrity of the Star Trek story telling.

Mike gave me my first break by allowing unsolicited Star Trek scripts at Paramount. Didn't sell either story but the first one they held for nearly 6 months! That got me an agent! Where ever you are now, thanks so much for the opportunity you offered all us new writers all those years ago. You were a man well ahead of his time! Thank you!

Youbsubmitted star trek scripts?? To TNG or DS9? Were they cool sci fi stories?? Can you share a little about what they were about please? Have you made it as a sci fi writer?

@@leif1075 I did a DS9 and a Voyager. DS9 called "Partners" about a rogue guy who sets up on the station to make a living hauling things and knowing where things are--a back in the day "Bruce Willis" type from the movies. Voyager was about rich and poor people on a planet--income inequality to the extreme where millions starve daily and the rich in their ivory towers don't care. Janeway had stopped off for supplies and learns about this society and tries to change things.

You are sorely missed Michael. I've only been a Trek fan since 2017 and I can whole heartedly say that Alex Kurtzman, JJ Abrams and all their lackeys combined don't have one tenth of the storytelling ability that you had.

Abrams and his crew are definitely the type Pillar is talking about only having experiences related to what they’ve seen on television and in movies.
