A colorful piece of rough conglomerate Koroit opal -
Here’s an interesting piece of rough conglomerate Koroit opal I mined about an hour ago. As you can see, there’s some nice color showing … but what’s inside the rest of the piece? …
Please stay tuned to find out …
I’m sorry about the awkward lighting. It’s the afternoon sunshine. And I’m tired. I just came up to the surface after a few hours of mining.
Please remember to subscribe!
Thank you!

I believe the moral of the story is. The proceeds from this rock could buy a dog house or a real house. Does each slice feel like the pull of a lever on a slot machine?

@@tllt4983 - I try to be optimistic, but it’s highly unlikely that it’ll buy a real house. In terms of $ with a piece like this, it’s more likely a question of is it going to yield a few hundred dollars of color or a few thousand dollars of color. Slicing is a gamble. Some pieces are much more suspenseful than others. There are plenty of times it’s like pulling that lever.
location please, include GPS coordinates.

@@johnnynephrite6147 - I dug it out of the ground at The Comet opal mine, Koroit opal field, Queensland, Australia. It’s from a level that was approximately 45 feet deep. The approximate GPS coordinates of where it was mined are: 27°34'14" S 145°26'16" E
