A clever way used by the ancient Arabs to know thoroughbred horses

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

One of the customs of the Arabs in the pre-Islamic era is that if their horses multiplied and they were confused about them, and they did not differentiate between purebred horses and hybrid horses, they would gather them all in one place and prevent them from eating and drinking and beating them, and then they would bring them to eat and drink the same people who beat them. These horses are divided into two groups. A group rushes to eat and drink because they are hungry and do not care what they did to them. While the second group refuses to eat from the hand that hit and insulted them and in this way they differentiate thoroughbred horses from hybrid horses.

Are you confusing this with story about the 5 mares of Mohammed? I am just not quite sure you know about Arabian horse history. The ancient people you are speaking of that bred Arabian horses were Bedouins. They certainly did keep track of their bloodlines and did not cross breed Arabians with other breeds. They often linebred, for purity of blood and specific strains of Arabian horses, Kehilan, Seglawi, Abeyan, Hamdani and Hadban. The DNA of the modern Arabian horse has remained unchanged for thousands of years. If there were so many "hybreds" as you suggest, the DNA would not remain unchanged.

Technically, calling a Purebred Arabian Horse , or any other breed of Horse in its Pure form, a "Thoroughbred" IS actually correct. This is because the context the word is being used in, is that the horse is Pure Arabian, not a Crossbred or Partbred. Yes the Thoroughbred as we know it today is a breed of its own - but go back through the 'Thoroughbreds' breeding as a racehorse or the like as modern day folk know it and you will find various horses in there that are not from one source. Back in the beginning of the TB being established as a breed you have Arabian stallions, There are obviously some Paint horses that have snuck in, when you see some of the horses that have been registered, and Dilutes for the same reason. In many years gone by, there have been Cleveland Bays in the bloodline infused in there, ones listed as 'so and so's cart horse' also listed - then there are ones with just 'unknown' this is why the Thoroughbred horses we know as a breed today have so many temperaments, builds, ease of handling by different types and levels of education as some are highly strung, some are the lovely quiet type. In this case, it is purely used as a term for a Purebred Arabian Horse - ie: Mr squealy there.. lol

Where did this information come from? It doesn’t sound right and doesn’t make sense. Arabs valued their horses and lived closely with them. They chose foundational mares based on a similar test, but no beatings were involved. A large herd of horses were hungry and thirsty over several days, and they were turned out in sight of food and water. Those who returned when called, despite such hunger and thirst, were used as the 5 foundational families of the Arab breed. Abayan, Seglavy, Hamdani, Kuheilan, Hadbani. That’s the story as I’ve always heard it told.

  • @faithm9284

This is not only from the pre-islamic era. The horses are still beaten and abused, currently. A Hybrid is from breeding, genetics, not a discovery after abuse. Positive training gets more from an animal than abuse. It has nothing to do with the horse and everything to do with some people enjoying being abusive. Period.

They keep breeding these horses for that storybook scooped nose ignoring the fact that horses can't breathe through their mouths. These designer noses are a terrible threat to their health and well being. Breeders need to develop a conscience and some ethics. Horses are living beings, not just a personal cash flow.

This is something that supposedly happened in the past. It's not a current modern practice. I don't know if it was really done or not. I'm also confused about which group was the pure blooded. Were they looking for horses that would eat? Even though they had been beaten, or were they wanting the ones that had too much pride to accept it from them after bad treatment. And I'm going back and thinking, is it really pride? Or is it fear?

And I wanted to point out they aren't made to be in a box twenty three hours a day. It's convenient for the humans. As long as the horse is healthy and the weather isn't extreme, it's best for them to be out as much as possible in compatible groups.

Pls learn These are purebred Arabians. A thoroughbred is a descendent of one of the 3 Arabians foundation stallions. Hence the Kentucky Derby ( race horse). A particular breed. Originated in England. Which is an individual breed. All other breeds are "purbreds". As dogs , other animals.

Or it's not a true Thoroughbred. Can't be registered. Name the other 2 foundation stallions. And for which breeds. The Arabian, & the Thoroughbred are the only 2 called "hot breeds".
