I was born in Munster, Indiana and my older sister was born in Hammond up above. A Christmas Story was a tradition as I was growing up. I was a Calumet City little thing, but we from 1988 normally were born at St Margarets in Hammond or Community in Munster.

I lived not to far away in Harvey ILL. My parents would go to the Walgreens in Hammond to buy cigarettes all the time because they were cheaper across the state line. I remember downtown Hammond in the 70's and 80's.

I grew up in hessville. I also went to harding school.

I grew up 1 block over from where Jean Shepard grew up. Here's the Harding Jean went to www.hhs59.com/harding.jpg They tore it down in 1970, when I was in 1st grade. I went to the second one which was built in the late 1940s. That too was tore down about 10 years ago. I met Jean the year the movie hit theaters in the 80s. He came into New Horizons restaurant on his way to do a drive by his old neighborhood. The restaurant was about 1 mile from his old house. Very nice man. He did like to talk. Flick has a bar 2 blocks away from where I grew up. It's still there today. Not sure who owns it. +kryptonson I haven't seen the PBS versions, but I have seen My Summer Story and the sequel to A Christmas Story. I actually thought the story wasn't too bad for the sequel, but they waited too long. I also watched the live musical too.
