Awesome video, two questions . Who bred your dog?, and did you tame hack your bird? Merry Christmas

Madi came from Sire: Northwoods Bird Dogs (see website) and Dam: friend of owner of Northwoods Bird Dogs, both in MN. River was barn hacked with another tiercel peregrine and a dozen gyrfalcons in Konkel’s huge flight barn.

Wonderful flight! Merry Christmas 🎄 Could you tell me, how often do you flight your falcon usually, say per normal hawking week? Thanks

Since late November I’ve mostly been flying on a 48 hr schedule. Earlier fall I was flying on a 36 hour schedule. I can feed almost all she wants to eat on a 36 hr schedule and I do let her take as much foods as she wants when on a 48 hr schedule. If I’m on a hawking trip away from home, sometimes I fly every 24 hrs.

My friend, you have an amazing bird! But it is a shame that you don't use better camera so we can see that stoop and tail chase in its full glory. I use semi-professional Panasonic HC-VXF1 camera with basically 32 times optical zoom, and with 1500 times digital zoom in a 4K resolution for my falconry videos. It's relatively cheap, and it is very small and light, you can use it with one hand if needed, and it has very fast zoom command, so you can zoom in, and zoom out very fast if the action is happening near you. I would sure like to see you upgrade in that department so we can see your bird flying at full tilt up close 🤓

Thank you for the tip! Yes, I need to graduate beyond an iPhone only😊. Maybe when I retire soon, I’ll do just that. This bird flies so high, and grouse are so fast, by the time she gets to them, they are very distant and no way an iPhone to capture the incredible detail that’s happening. Thank you for watching and the incentive!

@@brian_m64 You are welcome! I'll be waiting for more videos, hopefully with the new camera 😄 One question, is your bird pure Peales? Most of mine peregrines have Peales blood in them, and they are all very fast in a dive and in the strait line, and very aggressive. Guess these are the main traits of the Peales subspecies!

BDM, curiously what would the flying weight be of a Tiercel from that line please?

Likely a lot of variation. 21 ounces wouldn’t surprise, neither would 24 ounces. River is quite a bit smaller than her mother Raven, but apparently, big enough. See what happens in coming years.
