What about Project Management? I want to get into it and I have a bachelors in communications so not much knowledge of PM. Also I’m in Asia and I’d rather stay here a while. Should I get a master in PM or just the cert? I’m worried that the accreditation of. A Taiwanese school might not be accepted in USA and I can’t find the answers online.

PMP is definitely way more valuable than a masters. Save yourself the headache please.

Both, I mention both because sometimes it's The number* of Degrees and certifications you have that allows you to get the job, and not the other candidate.

Thank you so much for posting. Graduate Certification is very overlooked & underappreciated. I got a graduate certificate from the University of Florida for Athletic Development. Best thing I ever did because I saved soooo much time, money & it advanced my current career tremendously.

3:36 Everytime I see a job around they want bachelor's degree, master degree, doctors degree, I feel a dwarf with my master business certificate professional, I feel like the fifth person behind nobody and I don't even apply for that job, I don't know what you going to say to me, honestly I have 3 certificates, one in psychology, other in economics and the last one as a master business consultant professional, I realize that credentials or diploma is only about money not wisdom, they look my certificates like trash, so underappreciated, undervalued, it's demoralizing because you don't have plenty of money to pay to yourself a doctorate, my morale is on the floor sometimes, greetings from Chesapeake Virginia, The United States of America.

I think cost wise a certificate would be better for someone who doesn't have the funds and a Masters degree would be great likewise to help you expand your knowledge of different horizons. Just came across your page.. It def depends as you said.. MPH they do have certificate programs. I live in NYC and one school offers it as a certificate and masters. I also seen online schools offer MPH certificate programs.

I'm currently a senior specialist in quality assurance in a biotechnology company and already own an MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology (so, no interest in pursuing another graduate degree haha!). I have thought about getting my MPH but I am undecided. I wanted to obtain my CHES and also certify as a Doula since I plan on entering the Maternal and Child Health field. Although I want to pursue becoming a Doula I felt as though having the backing of a MPH may make me more marketable to clients or employers (plus I felt I could leverage a higher salary with a Masters).

Thanks! I was struggling whether to get a diploma or certificate in civil engineering. Seems certificate is the better option. It takes ten months while the other takes two years.

Seeking guidance as an IS specialist, I obtained my bachelor's in 2005 and postgraduate in IS in 2023. If you are lacking in experience a certificate my be a good way to make up for it as some employers see it as such. I know some people who got their Master's but have little to no experience in their field and are getting snubbed next to people with a Bachelor's plus experience. A certificate is like an enhancer, but on it's own may not be as strong.

CAPM is another option too if you don't have experience for PMP.

Great video! I'm going through this dilemma right now. I have a BS in Electrical Engineering and work in the industry making pretty decent money here in CA BUT, I'm quickly realizing IT is more of my specialty. I had certs from Intel and Apple via working at Geek Squad during my undergrad. Those definitely helped me get my engineering position, funny enough. I found Plenty of graduate degrees on IT, MS and even MBA programs. However, I can get certs in IT, CCNA(associate-level) and eventually the CCNP(Professional-level). These would be obtainable within a year or so if I dedicate enough time. After talking with many professionals in both industries and watching this video, I'm coming to the conclusion that I should focus more on getting certified FIRST then if I decide to move up in a company(CTO, CIO, etc), I'd pursue a graduate degree. What do you think??

You might also take a grad certificate after getting your BA. The BA teaches you how to think but the grad certificate gives you connections.

Just curious. Do universities typically send those who complete a certification a physical paper honoring thier success? Kind of like a diploma?

yes they do.

Nursing could learn a lot from you! we waste so much money and time on academics that have nothing to do with the specialty. Now we can get certs and specialize AFTER we have gotten our BSn or MSN , but then you are locked in. you can't go out and just take another certification to grow yourself.there is way too much work experience required for our certifications to do that. with fewer doctors in general medicine, we need all the educated nurses we can get! wake up nurse educators !

You said a BSW graduate should get a master's degree vs a certificate. What makes you say that? I have a BSW and am contemplating a certificate in either HR management, lead management or project management. Since I hope to become a sessional lecturer, the MSW is required. However, relative to other career development (i.e. an eventual shift into management), I'm unsure. Thoughts?

I strongly believe an MBA is a waste of time. I have a Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. I started my own financial consulting firm on Wall Street. Evans Capital Partners on Wall Street and now I have offices in New York, Chicago , Los Angeles, Houston and Atlanta

I found your channel some months ago when I was deep into my job search for public health jobs. I have my BSc in public health education and CHES certification but I may not want to stick with only public health. I am looking into certification in other fields to keep my options open because I still like health and wellness, creativity, and other areas.
