LOL. They are pretty mean to cats, but I think they actually enjoy it.

They tag team - when one gets the cat's attention from the front, another dives down and pecks him on the back of the head!

This is actually a common behavior for Blue Jays when something or someone approaches or gets too close to their nest. Not sure if you saw a nest anywhere but there was likely one somewhere nearby. Another possibility is that they like that area because of a feeder or some other reason and simply didn't want the cat in their territory 😊
