    Hello. The most interesting part of this video was when you had to switch back and fourth between patients. That was real time and that was something that showed me how it might be sometimes. Another interesting part was you showing the x-ray of the patients teeth and gums and explaining them.

    Love how detailed this video is. Dental hygiene in the US seems so chill. In Sweden we have 13-15 patients per day with 30/40 min each. Only half an hour lunch

    I agree with you, Alexandea. I'm in my first year of Dental Hygiene program, and most of my days, I feel so overwhelmed and second guessing if I can make it through BUT seeing videos like this make me realize that I'm going through all this stress to be at the stage she is!

    The doctor does all the treatment planning, although I know how, it is out of my scope of practice. As far as perio charting, that it taught IN DEPTH in school. I hated it then and I still hate it 😂 but it’s necessary to diagnose perio disease.

    I found the part of the video where you talk about the patient treatment plan very interesting (the whole video, really). At the dentist office, I have always wondered how to read those screens that show the teeth all lined up.

    I am so jealous of you American dental hygienists for being able to have your nails done. in UK dental nurses and dental hygienists we aren't allowed to have anything done to our nails at all.

    I am a British dental therapist and my main concern is that generalised bone loss on those rads. Here in the UK bone loss is our first priority and we would be pocket charting and dealing with the perio before placing crown and bridgework.

    Patients are under general dentist & periodontist care, alternating every 3-4 months. Their perio conditioned is being maintained, therefore proceeding with restorative care is acceptable.

    You are right. The generalized bone loss is due to the presence of overhang in fillings.

    It is impossible to leave the room when using a nomad and puts out very little radiation. I would definitely recommend you learn about the nomad so you’re a little less confused about practicing with it. You may come to love it.

    Do you ever clean teeth with pumice or something prior to whitening treatment? I have experienced patients that have plaque around teeth when they come in for whitening even though they had their hygiene appointment a few days ago.

    Yes, and if there’s some reoccurring supragingival tartar present in the smile line, I’ll remove it prior to whitening.

    What do you tell patients who start out with dark teeth? Do you tell them they may need multiple treatments? How much is a treatment?

    I try and make sure they have realistic expectations before beginning. One zoom tx is $599. I’ve never experienced a patient that wasn’t pleased with their results so no one has had to come back for multiple treatments. That price also includes custom trays so they whiten as often as they’d like.

    @@RG-hf4et There are four 15minute sessions. I apply apply a new layer of bleach each seesion for maximum results. We book 80-90minutes.

    There is no sense crowning #2 with no occlusion. If he is planning on an implant on #31, then yes to the crown on #2.

    @@YADDIEBUCK Sorry. No employer pays employees to sit around & read personal stuff. There is so much work behind the scenes in a dental office it isn't funny. If you are all caught up and you get a last minute cancelation, be a team player and ask others if you can help doing anything- making a phone call, pulling charts, unpacking delivery boxes, etc....
