Yeah Rodger Bumpass besides being best known for Squidward and Dr. Membrane (Invader Zim) has done a lot of minor background voices for a lot of the Disney and Pixar animated films during the 1990’s and early 2000’s such as _A Bug’s Life, Tarzan, Treasure Planet,_ etc. He even was in the dub of one of the Bath House Spirit workers who refused to give Sen the Bath House Token in the English dub version of _Spirited Away_

I looked it up it's basically closer contact with other locust during their nymph phase. It can also happen the other way around. So I guess upbringing in the right environment isn't only important to us humans 😅

Fun fact: A Bug’s Life is technically a retelling of another story. A very old story, in fact. Specifically, the movies Magnificent Seven, and of course, Seven Samurai. They both have the same story. A village of defenseless farmers are being terrorized by an army of bandits and brigands. And one of them sets out to find a group of warriors, usually seven, to help the villagers fight and defend themselves against their enemy.

The movie's premise is the fable of the ant and the grasshopper taken to extremes: there isn't just one lazy grasshopper here, but a whole gang of nasty thugs, led by a sociopath 😬 The movie's main theme is rebellion against oppression; it takes just one person to take the first step, and everyone else will stand up for themselves. Flick telling Hopper off was the push the rest needed to rebel; he was essentially voicing their thoughts.

I haven't finished the entire reaction as of yet so idk if y'all clocked it, but in regards to the little green guy the queen carries around: As can be assumed by his name, 'Aphie' is an Aphid, a type of insect that eats sap, fruit, vegetation, etc. They can be a wide variety of colours but most people can recognize the green :))

The title is a marvelous way to describe this masterclass movie. The era when this movie along with many other Pixar and Dreamworks films came out was undefeated

The "little green thing" the queen holds is a pest that eats leaves called an aphid. It's a food source for some bugs like ladybugs. Which would've been funny to see that ladybug just take a horrific bite out of Aphie.

Love this movie as a kid! I highly recommend “Finding Nemo” for your next Pixar reaction if you guys haven’t watched it, probably the best Pixar movie ever made. That movie gives you the feels. The animation still holds up today, especially the ocean. Truly a remarkable film.

From what I remember. A Bug's Life is based off a old story from Japan about a poor village being forced to pay tribute to Samurai for their protection from bandits. They resolve the issue buy hiring street performers to act as decoys for a final attack. It's kind of made a apparent with the ending of the film with its firework display. As fireworks were invented in Japan.

I feel like if this movie came out today it would be praised as one of pixar's best in years. It coming out between the first two toy stories and then followed by a decade of bangers deffinatly left it to be overshadowed

I love Bug's life I used watched it all the time when I used to have a vhs when I was younger. It was a great movie. Also I played the Bug's life game on Playstation 2 but I never finished the game because the beginning of the game was very easy but when I continued it got a little harder.

You guys should have watched the "deleted scenes" of toy story 2

I LOVE the colors and the fun world of the bugs. It’s honestly super good besides the list revealed scene. It’s epic, fun, funny. Hopper is a great villain and his scene explaining power is chilling, and the final confrontation where the ants are rallied to Endgame the grasshoppers is still so powerful. It’s crazy how a film about bugs feels like one of Pixar’s biggest films. I still love the final song “The Time of Your Life”.

To be honest, This movie reminds me “The Ant and the Grasshopper”, the old animated Disney version and children’s books version. I remember listening to those books during story time in elementary school library.

John Ratzenburger (voice of PT Flea and Hamm the piggy bank) has voiced in every Pixar film from Toy Story (1995) to Soul (2020). Some of his voice roles are harder to spot than others, the reason he has voiced in that many films is Ratzenburger was (and possibly still is) considered Pixar's good luck charm.

Actually his most recent Pixar film he voiced in was _Onward (2020)_ and he didn’t had a speaking part in _Soul_ as it was just a character that looked like him.

I saw a trailer of the life action The Bug’s life, but it’s not supposed to be as the movie, but it’s mostly about biology and observing bugs of about their lives. If you get what I mean, and it’s now on Disney+

If you watch the end credits of Toy Story 2 during the bloopers, there is a brief scene of the Bugs Life characters joking about having a sequel. Really, they're a cameo in Toy Story; you can also see them quickly during the movie when Buzz chops down the branches while on the way to Al's

Hopper's demise is honestly pretty up there in terms of horrifying Disney/Pixar deaths. Getting eaten alive by (adorable) giant monsters doesn't sound quick and painless.

Literally one of Pixar's best. It's one of my favorite movies. Came out like 3 years after the first Toy Story.

This one of my favorite childhood movies besides Cinderella and Toy's Story. I just love most PIXAR movies. I still watch this every now and then. I think I still have the cassette somewhere in the storage. There was a bugs life game. I remember playing it too but it was only for a short time cause I think it was a demo?

A Bug’s Land was the name of the area at Disney California Adventure which opened back in 2002 but was replaced by Marvel’s Avengers Campus in 2021.

The food falling over reminds me of Over the Hedge.

This movie had competition the year it was released. This movie and DreamWorks' first animated movie, Antz, decided to come out around the same time. Both have a similar concept, but approached it differently. This film ended up being the better one of the two.

they DID make a Bugs Life game in 2000 for the ps1 and it also was the first game backwards compatible for the ps2

I imagine you would play as Flik in a game based on A Bug's Life, in which case it seems natural that there would be a heavy emphasis on crafting gadgets for unlocking new areas, and fending off assorted threats.

I’m kinda surprised that A Bug’s Life is still a one-off movie. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good movie (and a childhood favorite of mine) on its own and probably would be better off as a single film. But sometimes, I wonder if a sequel would work for this one.

About the little green dude the old ant keeps (from wikipedia, because that's SO trustworthy) He's an Aphid, Aphids are small sap-sucking insects and members of the superfamily Aphidoidea. Common names include greenfly and blackfly, although individuals within a species can vary widely in color.
