Yes, bass extension in dynamics has become excellent in recent times and these add to the list.

Great review! Your professionalism and the polish of the video stands out, particularly compared to other creators with similar viewcounts. I have the hd560s, my first audiophile headphone, which I got almost 2 months ago. I’m wondering if the Zeus elite would be a sizable enough upgrade/sidegrade to warrant spending $420 on (that’s the Amazon price)? I could always return them if I don’t think it’s worth it but I don’t want to order them unless I’m probably going to keep them. Thanks!

I'm so glad you like the channel! I personally would go for the Zeus Elite over the HD560S, but both are good headphones. The ZE will be a little easier to listen to if you ever find the 560S to be a little treble happy. I think the ZE also has stronger bass so take that into account too.

@@PassionforSound how's the imaging and soundstage compared to the hd560s?
@PassionforSound

They're pretty comparable, I think. The 560S might get a slight edge in staging, but I haven't done detailed comparisons to be sure.
Thanks for this review ✌🏻, i have the Poseidon and i love it for what you just said on the video, for myself it's perfect 🤘🏻, but i'm still wondering if it's worth it to buy the elite? 🤔
@PassionforSound

They'd be a good complement to one another for those times you want a bit more energy and bass. I don't think the Elite is an upgrade though.
Energetic and dynamic, fun and engaging... sounds like you are describing the Sivga Phoenix. How would you compare them to Sivga Phoenix? Thanks!
@PassionforSound
11 ай бұрын
I don't own the Phoenix to compare, but I found the Phoenix to have a bit more midrange presence and really liked them for that. IIRC, they also didn't have as much bad or treble as a result so they're a bit different tonally. Based on a very long term memory, I think I slightly prefer the Phoenix, but it's going to be very personal.
Wait...is that the new Hifiman EF600 behind you?? And also the Arya Organic ?? Man, I can't wait to hear your thoughts!!! Cheers!

Great review. You commented on comparing to the HD 600/650. Would you be able to compare the Zeus Elite to the HD 660S and HD 660S2?
@PassionforSound
10 ай бұрын
I'm not able to directly compare right now, but based on the fact that I've now used both headphones extensively, the 660S2 is at a higher performance level. It doesn't have the bass of the Zeus Elite, but is more tonally balanced overall (not v-shaped), has better separation and layering and is generally more refined sounding.
I wonder how these would do with the big boat Geshelli Labs pro. I think that is my next headphone amplifier. I have a TEAC A-7300 reel to reel as my source. I have the Focal Elegia now on the schiit Asgard 3. These headphones are curious but not sure I will like these better than my Elegia or even my Sundara. It is curious though. The Geshelli Labs is almost a sure thing though.

Any headphone will sound great from the A3 Pro - that thing is brilliant. As for the Zeus Elite, it's an excellent headphone with a different sound than the Sundara (I've never tried the Elegia), but I don't expect you to be blown away by them compared to what you have - they'll be more of a sideways step for a different type of tuning I believe.
Would have been nice to hear you opinion against the Verum for this price range in comparison. I have found at this price a planar IEM is more to my taste, but that's me. Have always been interested about what you miss out on by not going up the price ladder, not a compaison but more of a reveal to what a little patience and saving can do.
@PassionforSound
10 ай бұрын
Verum 1 is technically the better headphone I think. I didn't choose it for comparison because it's also vastly different in tuning with its brighter, mid-focussed sound. They'd make a good complement to each other, but aren't really competitors I don't think.
Passion for Sound Thanks Much !.......again
Hi Lachlan, If the price is the same, would you rather pickup the Zeus elite or the Edition XS used mainly for music listening/enjoyment? The fit of the XS is not a problem for me because I have a huge head. XD
@PassionforSound
10 ай бұрын
That's a tough question. The XS is better in many ways, but I found it's very flat (left-right) soundstage quite distracting. I think I'd probably choose the Zeus Elite.
I love HarmonicDyne Zeus ❤

How would you rank these against the 900 pro x for gaming and music?
@PassionforSound

I really like the 900 Pro X, but I think the Zeus Elite will probably work better for a lot of gamers due to their increased sense of clarity compared to the 900s

@@PassionforSoundthanks for the feedback
Although the impedance is only 32Ω, the sensitivity is 105dB/Vrms which according to the headphone calculator requires about 98mw of power, which is more than most headphones with higher impedance need, does this mean that this heaphone needs an amp to produce proper sound? I am a beginner, really appreciate your advice.
@PassionforSound
9 ай бұрын
You don't need to worry about the impedance and the sensitivity. Just focus on the sensitivity and remember that a safe listening level is around 75-85dB. You do need to allow for some dynamic swings that will go higher and you also need to have extra power available so you're not stressing your amp and normal listening levels, but any headphone over about 95dB/mW can be considered easy to drive and you won't need to worry about which amp you use (from a power perspective). Hope that helps 🙂
Hello, have you tried the DT 1990? If so, how would you compare the two headphones?
@PassionforSound
10 ай бұрын
I have (full review here on the channel). The Zeus Elite has a much warmer sound. The DT1990 is more technically capable, but the Zeus Elite is the more consistently enjoyable listen because the DT1990 can get too bright on some tracks/systems

I have been tempted to get them, but I am unsure if this are worth getting when I own the Xenns Top and 6XX. In your opinion would this be a big enough upgrade from the 6XX?

I think they're more different than clearly better than the HD6XX. They'll be a nice complement if you do decide to go ahead with the purchase.
Love your videos and would like your opinion. What are thoughts of the ZE vs the Athena? I have the Athena, HD 560s, HD660s2, Sviga Luan, and the Hifiman he 400 se, is the Zues worth adding to this collection, does it fill a segment that I am missing? I am using a Zen zir DAC, Zen Air can, with an AMIYIA T@ 6k4 tube pre amp for music and movie, for Gaming DAC/AMPs I am using the SoundBlaster GC7, G6, Steel series Nova Pro wired, Gaming headsets are the Sennheiser PC38x, Epos H6pro, Sennheiser Game one, SS nova Pro, and the Audeze Penrose X.

Thanks for the quick response. I really enjoy your work. Very thorough, and detailed you come across every sincere! I really like the fact you don't love everything you review. Please keep it up, I am new SUB! My favorite right now is a tossup between the HD660s2 , Athena and Luan. I am new to the hobby about a month give or take, and it is weird to me that some days the 660s2 sound better than the others, other days it will be Luan, or the Athena I prefer. I just find that strange. Thanks again!!@@PassionforSound

Welcome to the hobby and thanks for the sub! I know exactly what you mean about different headphones sounding better on different days. I think each recording works better with some headphones more than others and then our mood, how tired/rested we are, etc. can all play into it too. It's great that you have a few choices to go for each day. Happy listening!
Do u have any recommendations for gaming and would I need an amp to use them on my pc

Hi I was wondering if you received these with a packaging box or if they just came with the suitcase and cardboard cover over it?

Hello, i'm looking for the best headphone for around 350 eur max. I like some warmth, but more important detailed sound, nice timbre/separation and sparkly but not harsh treble. I stumbled upon some headphones like sennheiser hd 660s, sivga phoenix/luan maybe harmonicdyne zeus elite, ibasso sr2? So many choices.. i don't like too neutral like sundara. Its too airy also i think. I need to feel the instruments and its timbre.
@PassionforSound
9 ай бұрын
Of those you've mentioned, I'd go for the HD660 S2 if you can (the original HD660S is also good). The Zeus Elite and Sivga Phoenix might fit the bill too, but in different ways. Phoenix is about midrange detail, while Zeus Elite is more v-shaped (but good)
@Gilliboy82
9 ай бұрын
I like the beautiful midrange and body on the Sivga's i think but i heard the bass is sloppy/not well defined and it's little hollow sounding. Is that true? Will the Zeus Elite be more complete in this regard? What is your opinion between Zeus Elite and the Beyerdynamic Tygr R300? They are both warm headphones but Zeus costs double the price of the Beyerdynamics, will Zeus be an upgrade? @@PassionforSound
@PassionforSound
9 ай бұрын
It's a long time since I heard the Tyre 300R so I really can't comment on those beyond saying that their treble is hotter from memory. I didn't find the Luans to have sloppy bass, but I probably prefer the overall tonal balance of the Zeus Elite I think, but we're into the territory of personal preferences now so you need to make up your own mind on this one.
hows the clamping force compared to say the dt 900 x pros
