DO NOT FORGET to mention Charles Bishop Weyland as the original founder of Weyland Industries, with Peter Weyland (likely being his son) taking over the company in 2012, eight years after Charles' death in 2004, and rejuvenating it as Weyland Corporation, though retaining the old title of Weyland Industries in certain instances, such as on the corporate website.

Interesting. I'm going to assume that Weyland-Yutani started off with pure intentions, but became an evil corporation once they began to monopolize virtually everything in the Alien universe. Great video.

I didn’t know EU of Aliens before that, and I enjoyed watching it ! (More than Prometheus movie couple of years ago, my last contact with alien universe, whom truly dissapointed me there) But the EU lore is far deeper than I thought, and earth war particularly is amazing. Keep up the good work, it looks really well (and your voice suits perfectly for that kind of narrative). 👍

more like Weyland himself has done more good than bad in terms of his creations. The company however? it's like any giant corporation in today's world- not focused on doing good but focused on money. The fact that Weyland (and later Weyland Yutani) is so focused on making money by progressing their military division at ANY COST seriously suggests that they are undoubtedly an evil company and not doing that much good. We've seen a handful of scenarios in the Alien movies where the 'company' has been willing to sacrifice loads of innocent lives for a bioweapon, imagine in the same universe hypothetically how many other scenarios there would have been where the company had put directives in a computer that crews and staff were 'expendable' The scientist himself seems to have created a lot of helpful things but the company is just a faceless evil imo, not so different from a lot of gigantic companies in reality

I really loved the Weyland speech he make in TED 2023. He is a prophet and what is told in any movies is a proof of that. He and his company made the most advanced vehicles and products in mankind history etc. etc. But the the beauty of this franchise is on the realistic building of characters and plots. Obviously, any big company seeks the profit and the unlimited power. An example for my country: Agnelli and Berlusconi have made a lot of occupation and, mostly Fiat, push technologies forward etc. But at same way they seek benefits and profits, therefore they are not Non-profit associations.

Since Ridley Scott is the grand puppet master I've a private notion "Nature Boy" is a reference to his younger late brother Tony. Ridley released materials depicting a connection between Weyland and Eldon Tyrell. It was released the year Tony committed his very public suicide and the material mimics a conversation the brothers had earlier in their careers when Ridley told his brother to come work with him and he'll make him famous. There's another song I find interesting "One More Try" by George Michael. The music video is one of the two music videos Tony directed. I'm still of the opinion Ridley has always used his films to play out his daddy and creator/creation issues. Their father served in the Royal Engineers.

Definitely working my way toward that - right now I have a video called “Anatomy of a Vessel: USCSS Nostromo” which shares a lot of info on the ship. I’m aiming to cover others soon! :)

I always thought the company pretty much had a monopoly on space travel.

Didn't they also invent replicants? I think Ridley Scott said they were involved in the Blade Runner plotline.

I think any large enough grouping will eventually loose sight of what both it's hands are doing at any one time. It's like real life where no-one is the super villain, but across enough people, bad things can happen.

Question: In Aliens the marines use the phrase 'it's a bug eye' before they meet the xenomorph. Is this a reference to some other alien species in that universe? I always got the impression that humans were more or less alone there till they found the navigator. I should point out I haven't seen the last two movies, though obviously I know about the engineers from excellent vids like these.

No mention of Weyland Industries and Charles Bishop Weyland. It's all canon until FOX says it isn't. You could even speculate at the relationship between the two Weylands. There is nothing in Prom or AC that excludes CBW and his iteration of WI. He could easily be the estranged father of PW. It would certainly explain PW's inability to be a good father to his daughter and his mechanical boy.

Funnily enough, the Yutani Corporation actually took over Weyland.

Peter Weyland’s death led to his company becoming a run of the mill evil corporation, for his curiosity, passion, and extraordinary intelligence gave it reason to exist, to focus and march on in the purity of it’s pursuits.

Question answer on WY. Once space exploration is more or less settled into, yeas corporations such as this one, will become very common. Earthlings seem to like their money and with this factor, is seems corporation grow.

I want to know more about Yutani and how they merged (if they were separate companies or corporate entities). All I know about Yutani is a name mentioned at the end of Aliens vs Predator 2, but I don't really count them as canon. I doubt it'll be touched on in Ridley's next film.

So I love all these movies Aliens the Predators!! So which movie is first in the time line? Is it The Predator? Number 1? Then predator 2 and so forth to the last Aliens movie? I’m also guessing It’s the kids of Wayland that take over through the time line?

The best way to say it is that the company started off well in the beginning and did right by humanity. As the company grew and ownership and the driving forces changed hands, it steadily became corrupt and evil. That would explain things more or less in a nutshell.

I've been a fan of the Alien franchise for several decades now. Lately a feeling keeps coming over me with regard to Corporal Hicks from Aliens. I can't help but feel as if there wasn't way more to him than the movie let on, covert if you will. What started all my unease with him, of all things, was the tracking watch he gave to Ripley (which in turn she gave to Newt). For the longest time, and much like everyone else, I assumed it was some sort of romantic gesture. Still, that reasoning just didn't sit well with me, and so I've turned a critical eye to Corporal Hicks as of late. Once I did, other things about him started to seem off. Him knowing what a xenomorph was, unlike the rest of his cohorts. Aren't they supposed to be the professionals trained to deal with such occurrences? Who knows? I'm probably just seeing something where nothing exists. Another thing I'd like to know more about are Arturians? They mention them in Aliens, but we've never seen one that I am aware of thusfar in the franchise. How many other races have they met among the stars?
