Wonderful summary of what makes fabulous 50s fashion so...fabulous! Personally, I think that time period is remarkable for producing fashion that is beautiful, wearable, and accessible. The designs were a an unabashed celebration of feminity, and they seem to express a feeling of optimism, an enjoyment of life. I find it impossible to look at fashion from the 1950s and not feel an attraction to its beauty and vitality. Just putting on one of those outfits is to be transported to a world full of promise and hope. Never mind that reality is much more complex, and full of struggle - fashion exists despite reality, and strikes a blow for a better way. (Well, it used to, anyway...but that's a topic for another time. 😉) Thanks for the post; BTW, I absolutely love your hand-written outline - so refreshing! Carry on! 👍💜
