Your obvious love and enjoyment of books is a delight to listen to.
British Library Crime Classics are a recent addiction of mine. Love finding them in the wild!
Project Gutenberg has Disraeli's Curosities of Literature in 3 volumes. You've intruiged me so I have just dropped them on my kindle to dip into. Thanks, Steve
Would you have access to a gopro, for a brattle bookcart browse video? Now that would be fun for us. Nice haul Steve.
Yay, Welty! I have to find a copy of that collection. I was quite disappointed to see that the new One Writer’s Beginnings has a very short introduction.)
The Curiosities of Literature sounds fantastic; I just downloaded the 3 volume version from Project Gutenberg and hope to read it soon.
I love that limited time litmus test, I currently have that with my lunch break reading. 20 mins to woo me, and they’re always mystery or spy novels.
Very nice haul as always. The mysteries and poetry book really caught my eye. I've never read anything by Catherine Aird. I'll have to see if I can find something by her.
I envy your having a shop like the Brattle. Have a great weekend.
Great haul!
I have the hard copy of One Writer’s Beginnings. Nice to know there’s a new edition coming out, which I will get, of course.
If Jason, Mark and yourself make it to the Brattle’s third floor, all your viewers expect a 3 hour vee-log of the experience at the very least. I loved Bookworms, too!
almost 7.5K!
Ha! One of my favorite Tasmanian Devil lines!
How i wish i had my own Brattle! I don’t think there’s any place like it ... unless I’m mistaken?
The cold cold ground may refer to the Tom Waits song of the same name
What would you recommend of Eudora Welty‘s to someone who has only read The Optimist’s Daughter and found it utterly forgettable?
Had to pause this to get the ebook of Bats in the Belfry because I love Golden Age mysteries 🦇. It was £1.49, but when I switched over to my amazon smile account supporting Dog’s Trust it was £2.99! I opened the see all formats tab and saw an older version for £1.49. Just wanted to point this out so everyone can be on alert.
SF Bookclub editions are generally a bit smaller than publisher's editions.
Bless you re healing from losing you other 🐕 dog 💚
Adrian McKinty has just won the Theakstons Crime Fiction novel of the year for The Chain. John McAleers ancestors must be from Tyrone. It’s a very common surname here.
Thrift books has a good amount of Isaac DIsreali...they have The Curiosities of Literature separated into volumes. Not sure if they have them all, however.
Someone pointed out a book by Penelope Douglas on KZread and I have bought a ton of her books. Her books are amazing. I prefer poetry by Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson.
AUDEN!!!!!
Pants in the UK means... pants... Is that what you mean by pants or do you mean 👖? 😺😆
There are no German Mendelsohn's and no Jewish Bertoldi's.
Just think. Pandemic=No-Pantdemic.
Your background is very depressing.
Awesome haul!
