A Bold Phone?: Xiaomi 12T Pro Review

Ғылым және технология

Blazing fast performance! Huge camera specs! The BOLD Xiaomi 12T Pro represents both great value and some missed opportunities--so is it the right phone for you?
In this Xiaomi 12T Pro review I go over the potential overheating issues with its very fast Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, its very good--but not quite great screen, perfectly acceptable speakers, promising 200mp camera (hopefully), decent battery life, and whether the 12T Pro 5g will work on US networks.
The 12T Pro Xiaomi is far from your average 2022 smart phone. I did enjoy testing it, but I do hope that some of the bugs I experienced and camera issues are sorted out quickly. Honestly though, the 12T Pro Xiaomi is such a fantastic value at under $600 USD, that I think most users can deal with these issues (if they experience them at all), the only users who might want to avoid it in favor of something like the OnePlus 10T would be serious gamers that specifically play demanding games, or users who want to film a lot of 4K or 8K video outdoors in the heat. This phone just is not able to keep that blazing performance in check when under serious stress and, at least at the time of recording, it will overheat. In this 12T Pro Xiaomi review I did run 3D Mark Wildlife Extreme as well as Geekbench and the CPU Throttling Test--short term 12T Pro 5G performance is wonderful . . . . sustained performance is a different story.

Hey Rogue! I believe it! It's a solid gaming phone for most users for sure. It's just falling short in Genshin when you push it to the max and it can't pass two stress tests in ideal conditions. No case, pretty low ambient temperature (it's getting cold where I live), and no performance mode turned on. That makes me fearful about regions that are much warmer and how this device will perform. Especially since I had comments that the 11T Pro had thermal issues. I was surprised since the 8+ Gen 1 performed really well in the OnePlus 10T. Xiaomi just needs to manage thermals better on their higher end devices.

Just sharing my experience - I tested the displayed 12T Pro model in a Mi store here in the Philippines. Installed 3DMark and Geekbench (can't find Antutu in Play Store). Was able to finish 3DMark Wild Life Extreme at 16FPS, and maxed out result the standard Wild Life test. Geekbench just a little higher than Poco F4 GT (can't remember exact numbers), but none of the tests crashed, though I only ran them once. There's noticeable heating of the body after each test. Can't comment on camera since it's inside the store so there's really no other environment to test.

Hello Colman! I liked the Note 11 Pro Plus and as far as everyday performance it was fast enough for me. You're really just looking at two different tiers of value here. If you do more processor intensive things with your device then I'd say go with the 12T Pro. Gino, I'd say natural skin tones-10T or F4 with GCam, technically the 12T Pro for dynamic range (but it was pretty hit or miss), audio would either be the 12T Pro or 10T. At least from what I recall. I think you can get what you want out of the F4 though!

If I'm not happy with the F4 I'll probably revert back to a OnePlus 9 or just get a 10T as it's currently below £500 which in thought it should have been from the start. Just use a phone cooler to help with the overheating and it simply works well. Also haven't experienced the bugs you experienced so it was probably patched when I got mine. Now I'm just waiting for the newer Miui 14 to be available to see if there will be more improvements on the software side of this phone.
