Cyril is so quintessentially French. The brutal honesty, humour and charisma is brilliant. It's funny how F1 makes you just think he was always unhappy.

Cyril is a LEGEND for doing this after leaving F1. I miss seeing him at races, he deserves to still be a part of the F1 show.

Cyril is a guy who was not really appreciated while he was present, now everybody misses him when he's gone. It's a shame really, he has a great charisma. Sometimes you have to lose something to really see the worth. Alpine bring him back to paddock!

There is something about the Cyril - Daniel dynamic. This bet, the honouring of it and just the two of you in general. This is respect on a whole other level.

I hope Cyril's doing good. His "I have plenty of time now!" Joke hid a bit of hurt no doubt lol Cyril's a good dude nice to see him and Danny still getting along, admit it or not losing Danny was a big reason behind Cyril getting the boot

Sure it was. F1 really needs to change or I feel it may squander all this newfound interest it has. We get good teams like Renault who just can’t compete and lose drivers like Danny Ric because he can’t wait forever to challenge for a championship. The sport just needs to be more competitive and so many of its problems will fix themselves.

Cyril was the last man standing from the Renault old guard (Carlos Ghosn). Many industry analysts were surprised he lasted as long as he did when others had been replaced for fear they would be loyal to Ghosn. It was pretty obvious his resignation took everyone by surprise, and left Renault scrambling to fill roles.

@@OOpSjm Yeah there seems to be some sentiment that he was let go, but I always thought he left? There seems to be evidence to support both. People are completely misinterpreting his “I miss it” line though. You can miss something and still be happy you’re not doing it anymore. F1 is kind of ridiculous when you think about it.

@@sondosoft4603 I don't think he was happy with the proposed management structure going forward and walked instead. Given the ongoing management warfare it was probably in his best interest. Basically you have 3 or more guys claiming control over the F1 operations all reporting to the CEO.

He had a different personality which the current alpine boss doesn't have. You see Toto Horner Zak Brow Bonnito and Guenther all have different personalities and the current Williams and Alpine bosses are more like corporate guys who always say the right things with so many filters. Whereas Cyril used to have banters and would joke around a bit

Cyril: He needs a driver and an engine. Christian: He needs a tattoo.

I love how Ric always seems to be having the time of his life

I actually want Cyril back so much more. I mean I wanted him back anyway but here he's very open about how he misses it and it shows he had the passion for the sport and it's a shame to see him taken out of the picture when he was doing well

@@liynne he was good. The problem was Renault boardroom budget. They aren't willing to pay for top aerodynamic specialist and engine specialist in the sport. That's why horner made the joke spending all the team budget on the driver. Even though in the end it was money well spent.

@@killerblueskies he kept saying no to the engine freeze forcing F1 and FIA to talk with Renault boardroom. And after the talks he got fired and Renault was okay for engine freeze after that.

Watching Cyril on Fight to Survive and listening to him on Beyond The Grid podcast - his team was so personal to him. Cut him and he will bleed Renault Sport Yellow. I'm sad to see him out of Renault F1. Good luck Cyril and well done for keeping your word!

I miss Cyril in F1. He brought a lot of charisma and personality to the paddock and the pit wall. I feel him and Daniel had/have a good relationship and it was good to see them together again. I love how open Cyril was in this video and the tattoo did turn out beautiful. Hope to see you in F1 again Cyril!

I'm so happy this finally happened as I've been waiting for this since we found out about the tattoo. The tattoo is freaking awesome as well and I love how it has a honey badger and part of the Renault logo as well. I've missed Cyril so much this season. He was just such a joy to be around the paddock and all the little snipes towards Christian was hilarious (Drive to Survive was hilarious when it came to those two) My heart broke when it was announced he wouldn't be team principal anymore and I was a little angry too as he did so much for the team over the years. It was a little upsetting to hear how much he misses F1 but it's nice as well to hear that.

I miss Cyril's banter in Formula 1 and I was a big Renault fan before Alpine took over. Love you both
