Good explanation. To me simple is better. More bells and whistles means more things to break. I can make my own ice.

Thank you very much for your excellent tips! These are details that most first-time buyers don't pay attention to, even though they should.

Every appliance is a piece of 💩 compared to the 90’s. In fact, I can’t think of anything that has improved besides TV’s / computers.

What fridge has no water dispenser and no ice maker?

Question, Of all the fridges you shown, the closest one i like is the apartment sized ones; fridge with freezer on top. The thing is I was looking at getting a short fridge that is just the fridge part of an apartment sized fridge with out the top. How good are they compared to the full sized apartment sized fridges (no bells and whistles - just a fridge)? Thank you.

What type of compressor should I look for? I want a French Door with freezer drawer, ice maker, water dispenser optional, door in door optional, prefer slick look of no handles or dispesers on outside, no third drawer, about 26 CF, 70" tall, width apx 35" depth 31" (measurements from my previous). I heard something about a class action suit because of certain compressor, something about instead of 4 of something it should be 1 and that was around 2017. I think. I want it to run quietly (one GE had several consumer reviews complaining about how super loud it is. Don't know if a compressor has anything to do with that. I want to buy this week due to Memorial Day sale. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Since I'm asking, with the specs I outlined, can you recommend a Manufacturer? I want to spend around $2,000.

I would like to see more features for the water and ice. Which models has the internal water feature, beverage center, etc. Than you

I would like to see less features and lower prices. Fridges and freezers are literally for storage, not entertainment.

It still confuses me why an ice maker is such crucial feature for many buyers. If someone need ice everyday, it may be for the person and the partner. If family with kids, I doubt kids would need ice every day. And if we need bulk, it could be for parties. But these could be occasional. Reason being, top reason for service calls are due to ice maker breakage. Without the ice maker, we not only eliminate the crucial issue making the refrigerator long last but also create extra space.

Geez, our ice maker gets used a good bit by several people ! So you don't use any ice ?

  • @bennym1956

The simpler the better, less complex, less fancy features, less to break usually means it will last longer ! Never have an ice maker in the regular frig compartment, NEVER !!!! You don't need an internet connected frig, costs more to fix. Keep your cooling coils cleaned yearly !
