    Kingdom Hearts is my favourite game, though admittedly I've never played this one. I got the bundle on PC, got to this one, played it for a couple of hours, and felt sooo sad because I hated the gameplay but was loving the story. I really didn't want to give up so I searched on KZread for a guide and found your video. This has legit saved me, you explained everything so clearly and now I'm actually having fun. Thank you so much!

    yeah kinda same. I finished the HD remixes (with the exception of this one) on ps3 a year before the pc and ps4 ports, then played them again when they came to pc (again, not recom) and was hesitant to play the gba version because my ds's shoulder buttons don't work but after a few run videos and this one, im pretty tempted to play the remake.

    I remember playing the OG GBA version when I was a kid. Man, I have NO IDEA how I got through it. Between not knowing the story because it was my first KH introduction (I didn’t know any out the PS2 game, just saw the commercial for CoM and fell in love with the idea), the card system, my first RPG-esk game etc etc. It’s a wonder I still kept my love for KH after that. Now I’m going through the series again and I’m dredding KH1 and KH Re:CoM

    So I've made it through two Disney worlds so far all on my own and I've started having fun after I best Cloud first try and Hades second try. This video had a lot of amazing tips, though I wish I had known not to go to Wonderland first lol Also the stuff about deck building and leveling was sooooo useful! I wish I could reset my leveling but I'll just try to fall into the pattern. I had been ignoring sleights in the level up because I hadn't fully understood them, so I'll level a couple times to get he the sleights I've missed so far, then I'll go into the pattern. The advice about building your decks to use sleights in order was also super helpful too, as I felt like I'd been fumbling through my deck trying to find what cards I need. I'll have to try building in this way tomorrow! Thanks for all the help, and I'll probably be coming back to this video a few more times when I'm confused haha

    I originally went into the original CoM blind via GBA emulation after beating KH1 and got stuck, it was a lot to remember for this pea brain of mine. This guide is actually helping me to give Re:CoM a second chance of understanding for All 4 One

    I've been kind of struggling with the complexity of the game with my peabrain too. Initially, I was, like, why is this game so confusing, it's basically a children's game? Then I thought about how if you watch kids play games, their capacity for learning complex game systems is actually super impressive and maybe my middle-agedness was actually a disadvantage!

  • @danhester4408

    My initial instinct after playing for an hour or two was to skip this in favor of KH2, but the beginning of KH2 was so confusing I've come back to COM. It's really growing on me. There's just a lot more going on in terms of gameplay mechanics than I was expecting, and it takes some (OK, a lot, for me anyway) getting used to. ALSO, WHY WOULD THEY MAKE WONDERLAND HARDER THAN THE OTHERS, ISN'T IT LITERALLY THE FIRST WORLD IN KH!?! Anyway, lots of super helpful advice here!

    Unfortunately, your first few words are how most people treat this game. I'm glad you were able to find fun in it, even if it took some convincing yourself to get back to! I have no idea why they decided to give enemies such high average values in Wonderland, on top of the Key of Guidance and Key to Truth encounters being high values as well, especially since it's in the first set of World Cards

    You mention Tornado being good in the remake but I think it's amazing in the original, the raids start falling off in damage for normal battles later in the game, and this is a great substitute (lasts forever tho). It also sets up enemies really well for other sleights like aqua splash, Ragnarok or sonic blade if it didn't kill. I'd like to say this guide is really good, however I learned that jokers show up less in harder difficulties, which might be one of the most cursed things I have ever heard and my life would have been better without knowing this

    Two questions. The first is about difficulty. Is there any reason to run proud mode outside of I suppose achievements? Does it increase drop rates or anything to reward the higher difficulty? Second question is about stocking. If you stock three attack cards and they don't make a sleight, does it still follow the strike, thrust, finisher stats or does it have set damage as if you did a sleight?

  • @relaxedbatter

    @relaxedbatter

    7 күн бұрын

    @@TheValiantBob to answer the first, no there's almost no reason to pick Proud aside from achievements, or feeling accomplished for doing the harder mode. That being said, Proud doesn't really do that much to change the game, you just take 20% more damage, which isn't a lot, and Random Jokers are less common to drop. To answer the second, 3 Attack cards stocked not into a Sleight do follow Strike Thrust Finisher stats.

    10 hours in on Proud (chose it in 1FMHD so I couldn't let myself bump it down) and I didn't know premium cards disappear unless slotted 2nd or 3rd. That explains the difficulty I had beating Hades. I was also unsure about the value of "0" cards. And I'm glad I got a joker card pretty early and knew it deserved a layer of dust. I'm also puzzled as to why many people don't/didn't seem to enjoy CoM, but I guess if you went into it with certain expectations then it might leave a sour taste in your mouth. But combat goof(y)s and clutches feel much more impactful because of how it's structured, making for an exhilarating and addictive game (constant card loot and rebuilding only enhancing that further). Fumbling through your cards can be pretty stressful with a boss on your tail, though it can give you a rush that you can't find elsewhere. Funny enough, I thought I'd made a mistake by going to Olympus first instead of Wonderland since it appears to follow your KH1 journey. Just started Wonderland but I'm not as concerned now that I have knowledge on my side. Thanks!

    Not particularly. You can sell your cards for Moogle Points and that would kinda suck if you sold some good cards, but you can get them back by farming more Moogle Points and buying packs. If you leave a floor, either through the stairs or through the teleporter, the whole world gets reset so you can farm for more Moogle Points or EXP or whatever, so you won't soft lock yourself.

    The only change that seems to be made for Re:CoM is the fact that now it shares the same requirements to unlock the 2nd Key to Rewards chests as the console versions as opposed to the Epic version; you have to watch Days and read all the reports/diary entries/character reports in order for those to unlock, instead of them spawning in the room by default.

    Unfortunate! I hope you saved at the save point right outside that world so you can reset the world. If not, you definitely can make it through, but it's definitely the hardest starting world. Enemies on average can play higher values, 3 of them which are some of the most common in the world have the potential to play 6s, which would card break almost every card you have in your starting deck.

    As a form of reward for playing on a higher difficulty? Yeah, that would be better I think, but seems like the Osaka team went the other direction with balancing, making the game grindier for playing on a harder mode; this happens in later KH games made by the same team, like in BBS and DDD where damage you deal is cut in half on Critical Mode, as opposed to only punishing you harder for making mistakes.

    @@glitchyfox8706 it's pretty hard to have a bunch of sleights during the first floor since you haven't had the option to buy cards yet, but if you can, it's not a bad idea. Days is much better watched AFTER KH2, which means you still have this game and the next game until you can watch it. The extra cards it gets you in CoM don't really amount to much, except one that is basically two Enemy Cards in one, and another that's just a stronger version of another Enemy Card, but you can comfortably make it through the whole game without those cards.

    I will definitely try to!! Life has definitely gotten in the way of making long form videos like this unfortunately. Tips I have are: - Use Dark Mode to your advantage by farming for it at the beginning of fights where you can get it easily - Learn the strong areas of each world's deck so you can reach it easily to farm Dark Mode or for Duels; they change depending on the world you're in (e.g., Castle Oblivion's is a great deck, while Wonderland's sucks) - Cycle AP > HP > DP at level ups - Use Duels (Card Break with the same value) during bosses for easy damage, especially in Dark Mode. Exclusive to Re:CoM. - Go to Agrabah and Halloween Town as early as possible to get the boss's enemy cards; you keep all boss enemy cards throughout all worlds, and also get some regular Heartless ones exclusive to each world's deck as well. - Use Enemy Cards all the time, since you always have them (Dragon Maleficent, Jafar Genie, and Oogie Boogie are standouts for damage/healing) Hopefully those help at least a bit while I work on it!!

    @@relaxedbatter thank you for the quick reply! Yeah it's higher for sure, even playing it just now. Doesn't always happen though, it varies. For instance I played a 5 heal then the enemy played a 2 attack which broke their card and I should of got healed but straight after that my card got broke I think and I don't know how. Also it's gonna sound dumb but I need to ask, the pictures on the card actually effect the play? For instance I'm locked onto monster A but there is a card with monster B that the enemy just played with a lower number. Will I card break that card and then deal damage to monster A that I'm locked onto. Sorry for the dumb questions, I'm coming straight from kh1 and I'm just like wtf is going on. Playing on standard but might start again on easy just to beat the story and move on. Again, thank you for your help

  • @relaxedbatter

    @relaxedbatter

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@themarchinggoblin8294 These aren't dumb questions! It's understandable to have a ton of them after swapping from KH1, given how simple it was in comparison to this. You need to remember that even though your attacks are tied to Cards, they still have time before they take effect just like in KH1, and Cure is the biggest example of this. Sora has to complete the animation of him raising the Keyblade above his head before the heal actually takes place, during which, if there are other enemies capable of playing cards (aren't in Card Break-stagger, knocked down, or stunned), they could potentially Card Break you during the cast. If you're playing versus a bunch of mobs, it's a good idea to stock some Cards together to reach 10+ values, even if you think you don't need it, since regular Heartless can't play anything higher than an 8 (9 in the GBA version), and they also can't play 0s, so you're guaranteed to get all your actions off. For that second question: - you will Card Break enemy B's card -your attack will be aimed at A - **but** B will be the one that is Card Break-staggered, so if your attack takes a while to connect to enemy A (for example, Fire at long range), they may be able to play a card and Card Break you if your value wasn't high enough. I will say that changing the difficulty of Re:CoM doesn't affect that much -- you take either 20% more or less damage depending on whether you go up or down in difficulty. Though, on Beginner, enemies have 25% less HP, so that can help end battles a bit more quickly, though it won't help much in terms of having to learn how to work the mechanics of cards.

    Yep, another reason I'd recommend the GBA version over the remake. I'm certain most people will enjoy KH1 for the most part, but seeing the same worlds with the same textures and models in a different context doesn't exactly scream entirely new game. Seeing those worlds translated into beautiful sprite work on GBA, however, that's a completely new experience.
