A Barn Full of Trouble
Today we've got a barn full of trouble, as we continue repairing the barn and replacement of a rotted barn pole with the help of our Farmall 656 tractor. Later, I scare the kids away with my bad jokes and visit with the Dexter cattle. We check out how the new cattle pen floor we installed last summer is holding up, then I show you my process for packing for farmers market.

I dropped a 1 pound container of margarine on my foot last week at the grocery store.... it still hurts today. I can't believe it's not better!
Pete , Paul again from UK , I live only about 12 miles from Liverpool, home of the Beatles and Liverpool FC. I have only been a subscriber for a couple of days , I just want to say keep doing a wonderful job , I have watched so many of your videos recently and I have enjoyed all of them. I wish you could post meat to the UK because if I was in America I would come down to your stall and buy products from you. It’s good to keep small family run farms in business. I have been to many places in the US and I really like the US , keep up the good work that you and Hilary are doing.
Pete, You are without a doubt the most even keeled person I have ever listened to whether it's bad jokes or problems or whatever is going on I admire your ability to stay calm.
looks like you are really do well I watching now at 140k keep up the great work
Hi:-) It's the little things that make your channel more enjoyable... like Hillary's reaction to you (calm, cool, and collected) like the battery debacle... of course the tractors! Your cows... love your farm, your family, and your channel!
The one thing I thoroughly enjoy about you no matter what you're doing you've always got time for your animals and that's why I think you got so much loyalty by your animals to you great job
Great job on well over 123k subscribers, That’s amazing! Your videos are a great help to me on our small 73 acre farm thank you!
Wow almost 50K in November and now at 141K! Well deserved too!!
So happy to see your channel growing. You do such a great job with the information, the video, the editing, and of course the dad jokes. -Ed
Well done!!! As they say best helping hand is at the end of your arm! Quality program, keep it up!
Love the dad jokes keep them coming
Love your channel. You're an inspiration for just going and getting big job done "one step at a time." Nothing seems to phase you. Thanks so much. Thank, too, for the cute jokes. Love your Dexters!. Yours in Gratitude
Hey subscribers! Lets all help this hard working family out by watching all the commercials without hitting the skip video button. The video will play automatically when the ads are completed. Thanks because they deserve a raise!
Love your attitude, even when the batteries die!
Thanks for giving insight on preparing for the market, have been waiting for it.
Another great video.... Thank you
The dead batteries!!! Yes!! This is us too! Every time!! 🤣🤣
KEEP THE DAD JOKES COMING!!! :-)
2wd loader tractor I definitely don’t miss those days
Was looking forward to this one lots of love from South Africa!
Very good selection of products. Well done. Thanks for sharing.😷👍
U make it look so easy
We recently got into Dexter Cattle, This fall is the first fall we are getting some butchered. I am very excited about it after watching many of your videos! I would love to see (if it doesn't already exist) what you get on average off of your cattle. Pounds/cuts/burger. Thanks for making great content!
Nice job on barn repair! And darn, wish lived by you and the market!
50.2K congratulations!!!!!!
Thank you Pete. Great job on the videos
You know what they say about the old blind carpenter? He picked up the hammer and saw.
Looks good with that loader and new canapy
Excellent video as always!!!
I hope you make more market videos! Great episode by the way!
This guy is the real Mccoy
Grace sounds like my brother when I tell jokes😂😂😂
Congrats on 50k subscribers!! Keep it up!
Great action video! You are involved in so many activities in one day. Fall seems to be a busy time for you.
Pete, I am looking forward to your Power Tools 101 for the farm video, batteries optional. Lol
Man I wish I had a farm family like you I would be their best friend ha ha
I did yesterday love these videos very informative
Another great video!
Bad jokes -Dad, Van Bartechko, had a ton of them! happy memory of groaning ''OH DAD!!'' :)
It's to bad that you don't have a dedicated trailer to haul everything to the market in. It would always be in the trailer, so nothing would ever get forgotten and left behind. P.S. Love the jokes!!! Dave N.

I was thinking the same thing. An enclosed trailer with a couple freezers and a refrigerator would save some time. Wiring it where a short extension cord would power the whole thing at home or market would help as well.

@@stuartgibson1896 from personal experience, sometimes those refrigerated trailers can be expensive. But I don’t know the modern prices.

@@hairlesscat6458 I was referring to just an enclosed cargo trailer with a couple deep freezers and refrigerators inside kind of set up like a food trailer/truck. Strictly to cut down the amount of load/unload time.
You should make a video of your farm market so we can see and watch
You make me want to be a farmer. But I know better. It’s a LOT of work. I work a lot myself. But it’s not the same. Another great video. So happy I found your channel.
Congratulations on 50,000 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤️
Wrap post in plastic bag helps reduce rot
Just another wonderful video Pete. Always good to see your family.… And the cows. But the jokes my friend! What are you thinking? Now I can’t get the one leg waitress out of my mind and I’ve been laughing for a week. 😃👍🏻🇨🇦
Luv the jokes!
Hi Pete. I have a few acres and a few old Farmalls but no idea about farming. Already subscribed, but just because I enjoy you folks. All the best!
What market do you bring your meat to? Love your jokes, they make my day!
Congrats on 50,000 subscribers
Great video once again. On the subject of hoves, I don’t know if you feed your cattle anything other than grass but my experience is that hoves grow quicker if animals are fed grain. Used to work on a milk farm where we trimmed hoves twice a year, and those cattle walked quite a bit but obviously had a diet consisting of both grass and grains. In my herd they only eat grass and grow to about 30-35 months. No need to trim hoves.
I'd show you my seafood, but it's not good table manners...😂😂💚👍
I'm not sure the 2nd job as a stand up is the way forward

Hi just watching your farm what your doing reminds me much the way we used to do here in Cornwall quite some time ago now rules now no longer let castrate pig that way you must have a vet do it and .y not favourite job was go pick up stones all day and .y best mate a saddle back pig who thought he was a dog he was good with rounding up the cows
You are a see food farmer. I see all the food you grow and I want it lol
I love those knee-wobblers.
Instead of screws use carriage bolts and oversize washers. That way when you needs to replace wood it's easier and stronger. I learned it the hard way.
5:22 i have that same excat hat as yours

Good cows
Pete I enjoy your jokes but I wouldn't give up you day job. Lol. I liked the way you put in the post especially how you worked with that 2x12 with the robes. Don't worry you'll get the 50k level. Thanks.
I'm thing of buying a farm but hiring a manager to manage it hoping its in the books for me cheers love u tube videos
WOW! from 50k to 358K in about ~2years. Today is February 7, 2023
Great video I'm a new subscriber and this is just a tip for you if you don't want the yearlings feeding off the mother you could separate them in a different pen in the shed? Keep up the good work 👍
Hay Pete, Back in the late 70’s a local radio station held a daily contest. If you sent in a joke and they read it on the air, you won a prize. So I was like 16 and the joke I submitted was read. My prize was and AM/FM converter. My car only had an AM radio and that was how I was able to get FM stations. The joke… What does a man do standing up, that a lady does sitting down, that a dog does on three legs? I’ll post the answer tomorrow. Love your channel.

You wore me out watching you go up and down that ladder. Every farmer is a seefood farmer.
Finally 🙏
The loader comes in handy.
For us when we had dairy cows the digest factor (we later on found out) for huff problems was feeding the cows corn. If there just on grass almost all huff problems go away.
@JC-uq5gi

Yes. Dairy cow hoof problems can be related to feed. They don't move around much either, so they need to be maintained. Most dairy cattle in the United States are fed a mixed ration that consists of several corn products however. No one feeds straight hay. It's inefficient for milk production.
Love your love your videos
Almost 50K!!
Pete what you need is skid steer
Have you thought of using a heated water hose like on an RV ?
I coated the in ground portion of the post with a plastic paint that polymerizes to help keep water away from the post, same product used to keep pollutants from leaching out of piers in sensitive waterways. Poly-21 but its expensive and it shouldn't be.

Soaking them in diesel is fine.
Have ever thought to have a farm dog? Dogs can stand Pete's jokes and carry full batteries. Dogs can heard the cattle. Dogs are excellent listeners and bark at the moon.
Pete have you ever tried pulling posts with the three point lift? Typically rated at much more capacity than the FEL and the short length does not complicate the lift with a large moment angle and associated tipping of the tractor.
@JustaFewAcresFarm

Yes we pull fence posts with the 2-point on the Super C. The 656 does not have the lift arms installed into the fast hitch receivers. It didn't strain it too much to lift out the post.
Hi from waterford ireland
I just got your book I’m goin to try and read it through out the days but I have books for school to read to and I can’t use your book but I’ll try to figure somethin out!
First time watching. Very interesting!
Do you pluck or skin your chicken's / turkey's? If you do both what do find easier? Have a great day!
Beautiful. :):):)
Love the videos as always. I don’t know if you have covered this already but how do you butcher your chickens/ turkeys on the farm?
Great video, really well put together.. Easy get to 50,000 subs. 👍👌👍
When are you going to finish the md Farmall put on the metal stuff and steering wheel
sounds lik3ee something that I would do.
It's good to see someone keeping it simple when it comes to livestock. Your vet bills should be relatively minimal, then. Did you do a video on that yet? It would be interesting to hear what your expenses are in that area. If you don't mind divulging said information, of course. Also curious if you found a control rod for the tilt gauge on your loader yet? Regards!

Hi, you must be from the YT Forum? I bought 6' of 3/8" rod and am going to make the control rod when I get the time. We had some vet bills when we started the farm, but we learned from the vets while they were here and haven't had a need for a vet in a few years.

@@JustaFewAcresFarm Yessir, I responded to your post about the loader with some pics from my manual. If the email you have listed on your about page here on YT is good one, I can shoot you the measurements of the rod after supper. Can also add a couple picture so you can see how it mounts up.

Nice ladder. You sell parts of poultry. Does poultry have different FDA rules than beef?
Why didn't you build a concrete plinth and reuse the old post?
I had bad wind storm and now its snowing so bad I had to throw the chickens in the coop
Was the chicken held by Grace a Sussex? Would love to hear what you think of different breeds.

Great video Pete, really enjoyed it. How many years d'you reckon that been pillar has been in the ground? I'm interested in your 2 loader tractors because we never got those 2 models here in the UK. What year are they? Keep the jokes coming, take care. Best wishes. Peter.
Man I wish our steers were half as chubby as your Warden there. Stupid Holsteins grow up, not out... We've got one steer that's over 6' tall at his back. With his head up he's almost 8' tall.
To be a bird near by to hear what you really said at top of ladder & discover no battery.LOL by the way was that an old Farmall garden tractor i saw in the barn where you were getting lumber? The tractor that changed small farming.
Just cruising youTube and came across you channel. Had to Subscribe. Where is your farm at?
