D Venkateswara Reddy, who had been vigorously acting against encroachers, has kicked off a controversy in the Telangana forest department.
Reddy was DFO, Bhongir, before being transferred to Vikarabad on August 26 last year. Within six months of his posting, he was shunted out for trying to protect 200 acres of forest land, said top sources. He served as the Divisional Forest Officer in Medak and the District Forest Officer in Vikarabad. Despite facing harassment and being transferred for his efforts against squatters, he remains committed to protecting the forests. His work has gained recognition, with forest officials even appealing for medals for their efforts, as acknowledged by the Prime Minister's Office
