One of the best rap songs I have ever heard. Very real track
All y'all who keep criticizing 12s rapping no nothing about the art of rap. Sit down and listen to the beat. Feel the vibe. Its heart felt and retrospective it brings out pain. The producer made the beat for the artist to ride it with a conversational style flow. It's not made for no super fast flow or no overly complex lyrics. Most of y'all cant relate to the lifestyle he talking bout so therefore you call it wack. This is exactly how majority of music sounded in the 90's.

Ferg and Rocky really gave me some hope with that LongLive tape, Lordsneverworry was still good too. But to me ferg and rocky really fell off. Twelvyy and nast is who I'm putting my money on

Twelvyy's taking A$AP Mob to another lvl. Hopefully Rocky and the others keep it rolling. On another note: it's almost funny the amount of times American rappers say "free my nigga [insert name here]" or "Rest in peace [insert name here]." According to their shout outs you'd think half of black America was dead or in prison.
@SkateboardB718

Sad part is that it's a fact tho
@ANineOne
9 жыл бұрын
Skateboard B Hmm, it partly is fact. In the UK the amount of black people in prison in proportion to the black population is higher than that of America, but the references to it in UK rap are far less. So I think it's also due to it being a topic in hip-hop rappers are accustomed to discussing, but the murder rate in the States is on another lvl.

MOLE apart from ant 😂
Yes, bring back the 90s for us twelvy.... Fuck this pmw mentality of rap... Theres more to life.... This is soul music and this is how rap should be.
easily one of the best tracks I've heard all year. Let's get back to making atmospheric beats and music from the heart. It's not mindblowing because this sound has been done before (and better), but it's a step in a right direction. I don't want them to dickride the 90s though. Rocky's mixtape did a brilliant job of taking that rugged NY sound but innovating past it by adding Screw and ambient music. I want the Mob to take more daring production choices like they did on LiveLoveASAP.

Lord knows the world needs more Clams Casino
@TheUltimate620
10 жыл бұрын
Zach Gardner Amen to that. One of the best producers of our time.
@tochiRTA
10 жыл бұрын
Zach Gardner dude, I've been listening to hip hop heavy since 1998. So I was around when all the great producers were either in full swing or about to take off e.g. Timbaland/Neptunes. I'm very picky when it comes to great hip hop production because I've been listening a long time. You can just tell when something's weak, or alright, or good but not great, or great but not life-changing, and then life-changing. Clams Casino blew me the fuck away. The last time I got that feeling was around 2003/2004 hearing Nujabes, Dilla, Madlib and Foreign Exchange for the first time. Clams doesn't have enough beats to be in that class but he could easily make it there with more material. I haven't heard a great Clams beat since LiveLoveASAP though, which is a shame. LVL was good but not quite there. I dunno if it's him trying to outsmart people biting his sound, or the passion's not there, or the sampling thing is costly. I really loved Beautiful Lou's contributions on that album too. All in all, hip hop needs unique but great producers like Clams. People who understand the essence/energy of hip hop, respect it, but want to take it further by innovating.
@zachg593
10 жыл бұрын
tochiRTA Completely agree. Not many other producers out there with these atmospheric beats. I just looked at all his mixtapes on KZread cause they have the tracklisting with the artist who rapped over them. 90% of them have been used, mostly by A$AP and Lil B. I'm assuming he isn't bigger because none of his beats have made it to mainstream radio to my knowledge. It's a double edged sword because he deserves to be more well known but if he gets more attention, the inevitability of people copying his style will occur. I think I'd prefer the latter though because his sound deserves more exposure. I know there's other artists that have this trippy, chill vibe to their instrumentals, but his seem to be more focused towards hip hop, which is pretty unique. It really is a shame that there's just not many artists pushing the envelop these days with the exception of Kanye and a few others names.
@tochiRTA
10 жыл бұрын
Zach Gardner they're not pushing the envelope because they're scared and/or mediocre. This is the problem with modern hip hop. The amount of mediocrity is stunning. It wasn't like this before. In every generation, there's wack shit. We had wack shit in the 90s too. But we had A LOT of really dope stuff. And the competition level was so high that even if you wanted to be wack and came into the game on some cash-grab shit, you had to at least hit a certain bar (for the most part). Master P somehow avoided the bar but that's another story... Speaking of Kanye... to be honest, I'm not a big Kanye fan. He's innovative, there's no doubt about it. And he has some beats I love. The thing that always bothered me about Ye were his weak drums. I used to say this ALL THE TIME and people thought I was crazy. Until Ye himself said it recently. He knows he has weak ass drums. Which is unforgivable in hip hop. Drums are the heartbeat of a record. They give it the edge and the feel. That's probably why Ye went the progressive rock/hip hop/pop blend because the audience for that aren't really hardcore hip hop heads and wont notice. But for me, I'm used to hearing a certain edge with hip hop. I grew up on Premo, RZA, Timbaland, Neptunes, Pete Rock, etc. I'm not shitting on Ye overall- he's made some great beats and some timeless songs. I actually prefer Clams to Ye, if only for the fact that Clams drums hit harder. They're muddy but still got that 'umph' to them. e.g. Demons. It's like a slower, more ambient Timaland. Anyway, you can tell I'm a Clams fan. I don't think there's any other new producer in the last 7 years that's as dope as him (Flying Lotus has some dope shit, hit or miss, and it's not really rap). Any recommendations for other new producers you're feeling? I just want to make sure I'm not sleeping on great talent.
yes yes! Proper Hip-Hop/Rap music right here.. feeling the sound. Big up Twelv and the producer!
