Judging from the fact that the model opens, I think it's safe to assume the elongated torso is designed that way in order to fit the infinity saga mk 43 inside. This would explain the hollow non-brick built head, as well as why the limbs themselves look better proportioned on their own. Tbh, I wish it was only a small cavity that allowed the mk 43 head inside, since in the film itself, that's really all that you can see of him.

If you look carefully, there is not enough space for mk 43. It just opens so that we can see the details inside, and that's it.

@@michaelnhana No, there is clearly enough space for it. Some official images have been released where the Mark 43 is seen inside it. Otherwise there is no reason why they would add the extra abdomen.

For $550 I was expecting a perfect looking hulk buster 😢. All the other sets that are in this price range are better Lego sets to choose from.

I hate that Lego is gettin’ expensive when it it comes price per piece. 4,049 pieces for $550 US is insane. Just like the Black Panther Bust that’s 2,961 pieces for $350 US

i'll have to point out that price per piece is not a good way to judge sets. it helps yes, but look at the art sets, they're all 1x1 bricks. 10k pieces for like 250 dollars. but it's all studs that said however, i do agree these marvel sets are overpriced. You can get one of them for cheaper and around the same size. only downside is, it's not lego if you're into building. but if you want the final product, there are way better, cheaper, and similarly sized models. there's a black panther bust for only 90$. and it even has part of the body too-

Only one way to fix lego pricing is to not buy lego. With enough people stop spending their hard earn money. Maybe lego will finally realize that not everyone can afford $100 + sets.

The chest also really bugged me out. It’s was too flat and big. Great video!

Lego is simply making big and expensive sets because "they want to appeal to adults" but most adults don't want big, expensive and ugly dust collectors! They want smart designs, complex functions. Just because they're adults doesn't mean they are willing to pay this much for toys. This is just my 2 cents. Time will tell what this means for lego.

This set cements my opinion that 2022 is the absolute worst year for Lego Marvel we've ever had.

They could have made a similarly detailed set for half the price. The people calling the shots seem to have gotten the idea from the Falcon UCS set that bigger is better but how many overpriced oversized sets are consumers willing to buy before they stop? It's going to bite them in the butt sooner or later.

the angle on the suit when it's opened up 100% means that they are hiding what is on the inside. And since box art is supposed to sell the product, that means they are hiding it because it is ugly. It probably just shows the internal structure when you look down into it. If there was something cool there, like a mini ironman inside, a place to put the minifig as an easter egg, or even a good-looking hollow space, they would have shown that.

It's funny how the 2015 playscale model (which was 30 dollars) looks more accurate and well proportioned. I suppose that physics just gets in the way of creating accurate big iterations. This, of course, poses the question: Why do it in the first place?

Like Lego only had to make the Statue of liberty NWH set and we will all be paying instead of a giant mech which has been made like three times, it's easy enough ngl

I think the hulk buster's weird torso is built in such a way to stuff most, If not all, of that 40 dollars iron man buildable figure. I think the knees are glow-in-the-dark parts

02:56 I have a feeling that the reason the torso is so elongated is because of another rumour surrounding the set…..allegedly the scale of the set is based on it allowing you to fit the buildable iron man figure from last year inside the hulkbuster, hence the odd proportions of the chest. 05:56 and what really irks me about the price, is the fact that the minifigure you get with this set is pretty rubbish. No leg printing barely any arm printing and no new face from the looks of it. Compare it to say the Lego Tallneck set which is a significantly cheaper set, yet you get a completely unique minifigure, with a unique hairpiece, unique face piece, printed arms, printed legs and even printed feet! Why can’t they do this in a $500 set’s minifigure? TBH Rather than a Hulkbuster UCS style $500 set, I’d rather have seen them do an Igor set in a similar size to the old Hulkbuster set.

Yikes, this looks like a train wreck. How did they manage to make this look like a cheap knock-off? The legs and arms look good by themselves, but that torso and head... oh my... In my opinion, Lego's hulk busters peaked right out of the gate with set 76031. I know it's much simpler and cheaper set, but I just LOVE, LOVE the shaping and the menacing posture. The minifigs and big fig are excellent as well. It's the absolute very top in my opinion and still my most prized set. In fact, I'll expand that statement to any brick-built iron man armor, including the iron monger, what-ifs, sets meant for younger children, even set 76206 Mark 43... None comes close to set 76031.

Sigh, why did LEGO think we wanted this. We literally have had several hulkbuster that have been decent, but what we really want is an avenger tower or even a no way home set. I’m kind of glad I don’t have the money to purchase this

Even though I’m a huge mech fan, a $500 one is TOO big. Unless it’s a minifig scale one, there’s no need for one that big. At that size it’s hardly even poseable, which completely misses the point of a humanoid figure like that. I feel like this should’ve been a $150 set if they had to do a hulk buster. There were so many better options for UCS sets though

$350 should have been more like it even with inflation. Half the Creator Expert and UCS sets that cost less are actually better. Plus the minifigure is lack luster at best. $550 is robbery. UCS Razer Crest makes sense at its expensive price point...look at the figs, the features, the scale etc. This should seriously be $280-350 range...something is going on at Lego, why are the sets getting outrageous. I mean $50-80 inflation hike I get but not multiple hundreds of dollars. Oh well, I won't be investing in this.

This is laughably bad. The Iron Man minifig makes no sense, it's lazy whatwith basically just being the AoU Mk 43 print they already had just on blueish grey instead of dark red. The price is abhorrent no matter which way you slice this, even if this was a perfect brick built recreation of the iconic iron behemoth, the price is hardly justifiable. Imagine what Lego Marvel's first 500 bucks set could've been. A remake of the very sought after Helicarrier, basically doubling the original's size ? Or had they swapped the two D2Cs? 550 for a BP related set, could've been a UCS-style Wakanda scene, complete with throne room and Vibranium mine... And then for 350 do a more substantial HB. You've spoken at length about how wrong the proportions are so I won't even go into it but I definitely think this is one of Lego Marvel's BIGGEST misfires in ages.Huge disappointment, but I guess a sigh of relief for my wallet?

I'm hoping for mods...hopefully some mod builder will improve this model without any extra parts...making it better...!

The price is most likely because most (but not all, as usual there will be some pearl gold parts sticking out) of the gold parts are metallized.

I wish we didn’t get the black panther bust and hulkbuster and instead got one D2C and a bunch of smaller sets. Heck even some DC sets would have been nice since Marvel and DC share a budget.

The biggest thing thats wrong for me is the legs, the hulkbuster has long and beefy legs. The really short legs serve to make the torso look even longer and bigger then it already is. If the legs were bigger the really long torso wouldn't have been that bad.

I was expecting a lego iron man minifigure for the ages, sorta like the minifigure that was included in the og 100 dollar set, I have the age of ultron minifigures displayed right next to them and you can see the difference between the minifigures both have exclusive leg and torso printing, am I still getting the minifigure, yes, am I’m going to spend 500 bucks to buy this set, no I’m going to buy the minifigure off of eBay, this would of made more sense for this set to be 250-350 dollars, I feel that this set should have been the best, especially for the 500 dollar price, especially with the minifigure, there should have been all new prints! I am not buying the set because for one, the price, and two, the build itself, I have no hate towards lego but for the 500 dollar price tag, it should have been a avengers tower, an minifigure scale avengers mansion for all the comic book lovers, or at least a avengers hq upstate, thank you for taking the time to read this whoever does!

There’s no way it fits, aside from where the opening part is, it’s solid bricks. The arms are solid, there’s no hollow space in the legs or arms, and the joints would also prevent it. It would have been cool if it did fit but there’s no way they could build it all hollow like that, especially the arms and legs.

Man, all I want is some more accurately proportioned, scaled, and detailed mechs, if they're gonna keep giving them to us one after another. It's the biggest issue I've had with LEGO Marvel for years now, and a collectors set would be the perfect opportunity to include a somewhat more difficult/fragile build like that into a big environment/setpiece.

My son loves playing with the smaller hulk buster and the MK 1. They fall apart way too easy when moving and playing with. He was excited when I showed him the pictures but won’t be buying this because of the price.

The proportions makes it look like a gorilla.

Piece count is not equivalent to value, the Razor crest is just a tonne of grey already existing elements. This has lots of colours most likely new molds and metallic bricks with light up features? Not sure why people still seem to think piece count correlates with the price, it never was. Also this a leak, it’s hardly like they’ve gone in full detail of it or it’s interior etc.

Ok don't get me wrong,I do love the hulkbuster,in fact the Lego hulkbuster is one of my favorite Lego sets.but the thing is that this could have been done in a smaller scale,take example on one of ransom ferns MOC where he was able to make a really good MOC of the hulkbuster only using two Lego hulkbuster sets,and that just proves that you could do this In a smaller scale,of course I do understand that this was supposed to fit with the buildable iron man,but at the same time it doesn't have to be humongously huge,it just needs to look good(and maybe some possibility as a plus)

"LEGO is considered a premium product!" Is it, though? Especially when other companies increasingly work to make higher quality bricks, put them in huge sets and sell them for half the price. And those companies have military vehicles as well, which could actually be identified as 18+

As someone who owns the 2018 version and the avengers tower gift with purchase this new 500$ hulk buster seems pretty pointless. The daily bugle and sanctum are the perfect marvel set in my opinion and for them to just make a remake of the hulk buster which is arguably worse than the original is weird. I think i'll just make ransom_ferns model instead.

Tbh I don’t like how they keep making the hulk buster bigger and bigger I want one that is an inch taller then the hulk big fig instead 5 that towers over him also they’ve been using that same tony stark head since 2018 like can you finally give him an angry expression without the hud or switch the hud on the smile face and leave the angry face just mix it up a bit

I personally didn't mind the hulkbuster set. ofc I would have liked a avengers tower, helicarrier, or something else but a big ol hulkbuster is prty cool for me. but when I first saw it I was so excited, then that excitement died when I saw the build of it. it doesn't look like the hulkbuster, more like the hulkbusted. it has a cavity in it's chest which is the opposite of the hulkbuster, if they delay this and redesign and lower the price I would be happy to get it. but this isn't it, even with me who's a big marvel fan and UCS Lego collector I wouldn't get this sadly.

For me, I think instead of this hulkbuster we should've gotten a UCS-style S.H.I.E.L.D quinjet. I love the design of the quinjets, and having a big one to display at a 400-500 dollar price tag would be a dream come true.

Totally agree with the points you've made. However I'm going to reserve full judgement until I see some reviews. I adore the Hulkbuster, but for that price I want the absolute best and I'm not seeing it as of yet. Leaning towards the Hot Toys version myself. A Stark tower would have resonated better with Lego Marvel fans. We'll see I guess.

That side-by-side shot at 1:12 is enough to kill all interest for me. Everything about the torso is completely wrong and utterly hideous. And even before I saw the comparisons, I thought that it looked disappointingly ugly.

This should have had the same price but made it a fight between Hulk and Hulkbuster. Hulkbuster could have been smaller and had better proportions and been the "conflict in a box" that they love. Then also include some figures from Age of Ultron. Have Scarlett Witch and Ultron as other figures at least. Wtf lego

It is confirmed that the brick-built Iron Man Lego suit fits into that chest cavity. IMO, at that price point, they could have included that. Curious what MOCers can make out of this set. Also I find it interesting that the Hot Toys issue price of that Hulkbuster was about the same...different concept, sure. But it gets you a fully jointed, screen-accurate model.
