Or they don’t play otb tournaments anymore? I know a couple fellow USCF 2000 expert class players that not only beat me more than half the time (I am active in tournaments), but also beat the couple active IM players in our club at blitz all the time. They just both started classes and haven’t been playing many tournaments, as chess isn’t a big priority at this time. They are both much stronger than their ratings, one especially so. It’s just easier for them to play some chess online when they get a chance. I dunno their online ratings, however. My point is- this is definitely realistic. This player seems to me like he’s around 2200-2300 strength otb and plays a lot online but doesn’t pursue chess at the tournament level- which is a shame.

@@redspain4732a general though if you see something that seems “right” but Hikaru doesn’t play is that he sees farther into the future to you and thinks it’s wrong. Or he makes a very rare mistake. I have points where I think “that seems better” often.

I think he wanted to go f5 to open up the file and launch an attack but if he traded the bishop then f5 wouldn't be possible. 1900 blitz here

It’s typical for us. We love to use German words, you would wonder if you actually understand they way we use language in generell. In a lot of Eastern European Countries we use words like Spiel, Geist, Kürze, Stab, Stange, Spritze, Kurort, Scheibe …. and a lot more.
