Glad for the video on the 9th Infantry in Vietnam. Wish there was a mention of the 9th aviation (large group of helicopters: slicks- Jayhawks and gunships-Stingrays) . I was a door gunner with them, part of 67 and most of 68 in Dong Tam.

Talking about the ship's barracks. In the 70's are sub crew traveled to Scotland and had to live on the tender's living quarters. Just happen that the crew used a passageway through the quarters. Kept us awake. Could not wait to move on the sub. Thanks for your service, really enjoyed your video.

After the Tet Offensive 4/47th apparently dropped the 4th platoon in its companies. I arrived in time for the May 1968 Offensive. After that they dropped Co. E, which was my original rifle company. We became Co D, 4/47th due to lack of replacements. There was also a Phase III Offensive in August, 1968. Welcome home John.

The 2nd of the 4th Artillery crest used in Vietnam was different from what is shown. I belonged to D battery in 1970. I'd add a photo but don't see how.

a small correction on the 1st Battalion/84th Arty. Video stated it was a 155 unit, however Battery "D" of the 1/84th was an 8" Self-Propelled battery with 4 guns and another battery of the 1/84th (I don't remember which, was a 175 Self-Propelled battery. I was a member of Battery D 1/84 Aug '68 - Jul '69. Thanks for a fine video.

My dad James Santmyer was in the 9th and arrived in 68 until being shot down in a helicopter. I always hope I'll see him in one of these old videos or someone in the comments will remember serving with him lol. I miss him greatly. I also heard of him talk about being with the "River Rats". I believe it was part of the riverine forces but dont know much else about them. Any info on the River Rats is appreciated.
