Bless you !!! I was leaving for Andrius to reply !!! As I don't know a lot about Tractors !!! But definitely go for Kubota !!! they are the best ours costed us 3500 euros :) and we are super happy with it !!! It depends on your land size you planning to get if it's a bigger plot then you need to buy more powerfully then ours .. but If you will get a bigger then you need to think how much fuel it will take (ours barely use anything) and cost of tyres ext ... But we definitely recommend Kubota .. if you have more questions you can follow us On instagram (portugal it is) or facebook (portugal it is ) and then you can message us directly ;) hope that helps !!!!

Well done on your projects this week! Some sort of a hand operated jib crane sure would be useful to move the rocks around the house site and up onto the walls. It won't be long until the rocks will need to be lifted up to the forever rising wall height. There is a way to use wooden cribbing as a jacking system if you are interested.

I'm getting tired just looking at all those heavy boulders... 🥵 and then you're only at the first layer. I think it is best to make the kitchen from concrete stacking blocks on a tight cast concrete base. This works much more efficiently and tighter and is also less of a physical strain. If desired, you can then finish the outside with smaller stones for the effect.

I know its alot more expensive but i think you should put wooden windows and doors in... it would be more in keeping with the stone building. Maybe you could save money somewhere else. Its such a nice old building and its not so big...it would be a real shame to spoil it with modern aluminium. Maybe you could use those on the bathroom extension....if you cant cancel the order.

  • @portugalitis

Hello Christine , we won't use wood as it's not good for this climate .. we seen doors how it looks after few years ... and we just confirmed our thoughts ... We gone for wood imitation so it will look like wood and we are happy with our choice :) I bet it will look nice !!! please give us a chance to show you Christine xxx

I respect your doing what you think I'd best for your finances but I'm sorry I don't agree. At least two doors and a window will be covered by the verandah for the sun. I too live in a climate the same as yours ( Australia)....you can use wood with all the modern treatments to keep them looking good. Aluminium has no place in such an historical building. The Portuguese have used wood for centuries...now with modern techniques you could protect them from the weather. Your going to so much trouble to do it right PLEASE reconsider. I think out of responsibility for the history fake aluminium windows would really spoil things. I think your doing a wonderful job with everything else, I really like you two and what you are doing with the garden , chickens and cooking. I think your lovely and entertaining.

Hi guys, I am looking at the animal pen beside the kitchen and thinking about why you have not included that area with the kitchen build. Whatever you are going to use that space as, it seems to me that one outside wall of stone and then use blocks as internal walls. also, blocks with a face of stone is much more practical for your back. 1,

What a wonderful birthday present. They will be big and strong one day and give you so many fruits to enjoy. I was hoping you would extend the kitchen to where the animal enclosure is (was). You could have had stair steps going down, then build the back kitchen wall with the wall that is already there. Oh well, what you are doing is good and 'G' will have a fantastic kitchen, soon. 🧑‍🍳🍳 Love watching Guffy having fun, he is living his best life, and Gizmo is, too. Take care, watch out for those huge corner stones🪨🚜, be safe ~🤗💖 Lacy, Mike & Hamish🐾 PS. Here is an interesting way to make a stone wall, kzread.info/dash/bejne/lISXzMWpfZPeg7A.html
