99 Toyota Camry 2.2L Misfire Diagnosis and Confirmed Fix | P0300 P0301 P0302 Trouble Codes

I'm taking on a few Mobile Mechanic Jobs once in a while and Today I got this 1999 Toyota Camry with a 2.2L engine. According to the owner, it's running very rough and basically undrivable. I load up some tools and head out, I verify that it is running rough and seems like there is a misfire. Instead of guessing and replacing things that are unnecessary I am now in the habit of Diagnosing things properly. this turned out to have 2 separate things causing 2 misfires. I hope this video was helpful, Thanks for watching!

No problem! Just got them from napa auto parts store down the street, they were the cheapest ones there, the connectors were a huge pain to get on wish I had a little silicone spray with me that would have helped

Why not make it a habit to change all spark plugs at the same time?

Having this same issue, changed spark plugs, coils and injectors and still misfiring. Is not an internal engine thing since i did a compression test and it was good. Not sure what else to do at this point. Any suggestions?

Hi Jorge, I don't know if you're only getting a DTC for 1 cylinder misfire or multiple cylinder misfire. If you already changed plugs, coils, and injectors, try changing spark plug wires. When they get old their resistance gets to high and plugs don't get enough voltage to fire. You can check their resistance with an ohmmeter. Look online for the Ohms/Feet specs. I did mine a while back so I don't remember it. Old wires are also more susceptible to arcing along their length between the coils and plugs. The arcing will also cause a misfire. If you're still having this issue after changing wires, test the plugs with a spark plug tester to make sure they're all creating a strong enough spark. I assume you already checked fuel pressure at fuel rail. If you don't have enough pressure at fuel rail, fuel injectors can't provide adequate amount of fuel for combustion, and you guessed it, you'll get a misfire. Hope this helps. When you fix it or if you already fixed it, please post the fix, so others can see it in the future.
