it was probably that the Code of Points was changed ( as it does every 2 seconds), and maybe the value of the pass went down. But i think its also a bit easier to do 3, b/c when you see these girls do four, its like they're trying VERY hard to squish the fourth layout just a tad so they don't fall off the end of the beam. 3 is better, much more fluid than 4.

@sprinklefriend I think it is because now you don't get bonus for doing the same element in a row so they don't have to do 4 to get the same score. If that makes sense

While Dominique had a lot of raw talent, she was not as polished and perfect as they gave her credit for. Every apparatus had form breaks, with some bent knees here and there, toes that weren't pointed, and other things. She was far more polished when she made her Goodwill Games bid in 1998, and she'd gained some height and lines along with her mature confidence.

That may be true, but you make winning even one medal sound like it's nothing - she was 14! It's a huge accomplishment. I agree, there shouldn't have been so much comparison between them - but it isn't Moceanu's fault that there was. She still deserves credit as a great gymnast.

i never cared for Dominique in general...she was all commerical and money. Shannon Miller, the more polished and accomplished gymnast was always overshadowed by Dominique...but in the end, Shannon will always be the more successful.
