94.Hand Stitching - My Grandmother's Garden- Part 3 - Sewing the Rows Together - Hightower Stitching

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Stephanie at Hightower Stitching shares her steps for sewing the rows of flowers together and filling in the background patches. My completed quilt top measurements are 84 x 68"...not as large as my neighbor's quilt. There may be a Part 4 later when I have the quilt on my round hoop floor quilt rack.
Background:
Approximately 600 patches. Cut a nice pile to start and as you get closer to the end, slow down on cutting patches.
One 42" yard of fabric yields about 186 patches. 3.2 yards approx. for patches.
One 104" yard of muslin yields about 462 patches. 1.3 yards approx. for patches.
Backing:
Backing took 5.25 yards of 42'" material.
I folded the yardage in half to make 2 panels, cut the 2 pieces apart, and seamed the long sides together.
Part 1: Nov. 8, 2020
Part 2: Nov.15, 2020
Part 3: Nov. 22 ,2020
Part 4: Dec. 1, 2020
End: March 1, 2021

Thank you so much for showing the fill in of background fabric for the shorter rows of flowers. I have been hand piecing a king size quilt for my daughter. She didn’t want the flowers cut in half to end the flower pattern so filling in with background fabric Was the answer I was looking for. Also. Numbering the rows sure helps. Keep the videos coming. You explain directions very well😃

Thank you so much for doing this quilt. My goal is to make one for each grandchild for their future weddings. What size are your hexagons?

Thank you. So you started with a 2" or 2.25" templates before adding seam allowance right?
